I voted ROCK! But this could mean anything. Mostly on my XM Roady2, its on Fred, Ethel, Lucy, or Boneyard. I also listen to Dance, Techno, Classical. With 30 presets i've got everything except Rap....

I'm still in the freebie XM radio period. Originally, I didn't plan on subscribing, but I don't know if I can give up my favorites--Big Band Music and 50's music!

Almost anything but country. . .. and very little rap.

My favorite driving music is either techno, or good sing along stuff (Ben Folds, Guster, TMBG, etc.)

chimphappyhour

Techno here too! Followed by classical. It's really weird, before I listened to techno, I would never listen to classical. I think that somehow, not having something that is so dependent on lyrics might have helped.

You're missing "blues". On Sirius I listen to rock, alternative, I listen to the 80's channel (so sue me, it's when I started getting into music), but it's mostly crap. I find that when I can't find anything, the blues channel is always good. I listen to talk radio, too... both left and right, and am dissappointed that Air America has moved off Sirius because now there's only one "left" station and two "right" ones. I like to hear both sides of the arguments.

The worst is that in my list of 20 favorite songs (just 20?), I can hear the same songs over and over again but sometimes I can drive for hours on end without the unit telling me one of my favorites is on, and it's not like my favorites are these really obscure songs, either, they're ones everybody knows.

A few years back, a local morning radio show here in KC interviewed John Tesh. He was actually really hilarious. It was on a heavy rock station so they made allusions to his music being kind of bad, yet it always sells really well. The host joked that he must be in league with the devil, John Tesh ran with it.

The Breeders
Nirvana
The Gits
Patti Smith
Love
Ramones

And that's just this week. I like Techno/House, but can't figure out what to buy, as most of the radio stations in my area don't bother to identify what they're playing or who the artist is. Bummer.

I take it from the  you are kidding... right?? :)

Seriously though, where's the "All of the above" option to this poll? I like nearly every Genre of music there is...

AC/DC to Bach
Falco to Beastie Boys
Creed to Creedence Clearwater Revival
Anything 80's (!)

Classical - there's nothing like Classical during heavy traffic! You don't want to be listening to "Rage Against The Machine" during these times, that's for sure!

Oh, and for the hell of it... Don Williams and Roger Whittaker (though I'm probably the only person alive who know who these guys are!)

:)

80's music, but lately it's been "Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies". They do mostly 70's music with a punk flair.

I'm still in my XM trial period. The XM music channels programmed into my presets are:

- 50's
- 60's
- Jazz (lead program in the jazz section; I manually browse from there)
- World (lead program; manually browse from there)
- Classical (lead program; manually browse from there)

CD / Ipod selections include: classic rock, jazz, world / experimental, and classical.

When I pull up to a stoplight in warm weather I like to crank classical, jazz, techno, or world just to get stares from the other drivers around me...

I get bored with XM Satellite after awhile. Too much dog water and not enough of the good tunes I like. Good thing my EX comes with a CD player. 90% of what I listen to are CDs.

I like...

Rush, (Neil Peart is God) Coldplay, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, The Kings of Leon (southern rock re-born) Miles Davis, Massive Attack, Groove Armada, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, Ozric Tentacles, Roxy Music, The Cure,
Ryan Adams, Weezer, Death Cab, Quiver and of course "The Stones" ( Fred & Barney rule)

Hey, the poll only accepts one choice. Seems like many Element owners are going to be too openminded to stick with only one type of music.

I like cruising to rock, but then I also like Jazz, oldies, classical, talk radio, "progressive eclectic" and just about anything else I hit on the buttons or throw in the CD player.

Had to check other because I listen to too many genres equally, mostly rock and good hip hop.

Current Ipod Playlist: Apples In Stereo, Arcade Fire, Jay-Z Black Album, Common, random live Prince/Radiohead live BL outtakes.

Love reggae (BOB MARLEY!)and is spin-offs (reggae-rock like Clash, 311 and reggaeton like Magic Juan, Tego Calderone). Punk (classic stuff like Bad Brains and I love the Buzz****s). Huge fan of blues, jazz, some latin genres, country-bluegrass, classical and great live soul/funky pop (Van Hunt, Unplugged record-Alicia Keys).

I'm surprised I haven't responded to this yet...I chose rock since that is generally what I listen to. Since Nov. 22nd I've been listening to Hypnotize by System of a Down exclusively. I'm generally not happy unless I study the entire CD and know every last note.

Six months ago, it was Mezmerize, the first half of the two CD set I was "studying" by System of a Down.

The three wise men! I've had "Cool Yule" stuck in my head all day. Excellent choices, FourEyes!

There needs to be a poll choice for all of the above. I've never limited myself to only one or even a few different musical genres. We're within a month of the cheesiest holiday ever, though, so I'm all about cheesy Christmas music now. Give me some Dean Martin, the three wise Louis, Kay Starr, Les Brown and His Band of Renown, Eartha Kitt, Frank Sinatra, and so on. Anything good to drink fine wintry c*cktails to!

I as well like a gammit of tunes e.g., oldies, (hard)rock, alternative, (smooth)jazz, etc. .... but for the last 4 years 'religiously' it's been alternative/contemporary Christian music via www.air1.com (http://www.air1.com) & www.klove.com (http://www.klove.com) as they have local stations here in Phoenix metropolitan.
www.npr.org (http://www.npr.org) is another option for the informational morning drive ;-)

Depends on what I am doing or where I am going. For the most part dance music. Everything from Rap to Reggeaton, to old skool Freestyle like Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam and TKA, and cant leave out my Van Halen and Pearl Jam and stuff... Am I showing my age a little?

Most anything that has a guitar in it is OK by me.

You know what I find funny? I've spent all this time and money on having a kickass stereo and what am I most often listening to? Dan Patrick on ESPN talk radio or a NPR news show.

At least I don't listen to much AM. :-P

Can't put my taste in one box - 4,000 CDs and a gazillion MP3s.

But try this question on for size...

You are going on a trip and can only take 20 albums/CDs with you. What are you choices?:???:

I do a random slurp from my Computer to my iPod, iPod to the E.

20 albums? So, here's what I find myself dragging pretty regularly (no particular order):

1. "The World Won't End" - Pernice Brothers
2. "The State of The Ark" - The Ark
3. "Everyone Deserves Music" - Michael Franti & Spearhead
4. Bach: 2 and 3 part inventions - Andras Schiff
5. "Misadventures in Radiology" - Andrew Morgan
6. "Underworld: 1992-2002" - Underworld
7. The Blue Danube Waltz
8. Mozart: Horn Concerti - (Artist varies pretty wildly from week to week)
9. "Waffy Town" - Julien Brentzen
10. "Solid State Warrior" - Roger Joseph Manning Jr.
11. "Rubber Soul" - Beatles
12. "Savoy" - Savoy
13. "We Are The Ark" - The Ark
14. "In Lust We Trust" - The Ark
15. "Cannibal Sea" - The Essex Green
16. "Fragments of a Rainy Season" - John Cale
17. "Bridging The Gap" - BEP
18. "Stay Human" - Michael Franti & Spearhead

i preordered it, so it's somewhere in the mail, but some coworkers got it and we've been checking out the packaging. Sweet stereoscopic images. As a guitarist myself, I'm so jealous of Adam Jones' talent. Not only musical artistry, but visual as well...it's just not fair!

They were incredible! I don't see how they keep it all together with all the time signature and tempo changes in all the songs. All 4 of them are so talented it's amazing. They played most of the current album, a few from Lateralus, the big ones from Aenima, and "Sober" from Undertow. The stage set was nothing fancy...just a couple screens with kaleidoscopic stuff or the music video that went with the song projected onto them. The sounds they were able to create with their instruments blew me away. Tool in concert is way better than Tool on CD.
