I can not seem to get the grills to fit flush after I installed the 652i's. The speakers were mounted directly to the door, and I have even trimmed some of the foam coveered ring on the inside of the grill. The bottom of the grill keeps popping out on the passenger side. Has anyone else had this problem? Did you drill new holes, or use the existing holes? Thanks

It's because of the coaxial tweeter mounted in the center those Infinities - it sticks WAY out. You'll need to trim away a bit of material on the back of the grill where the tweeter hits, do not use the adapter ring if you used it, or possibly both.

I did not use the existing holes for any of my speakers - nor did I use the adapter rings either. I trimmed out the plastic baffles behind the speakers and installed some metal fold clips that slip over the plastic edge of around the baffles I cut out (see clip picture below). Then I dropped in a new baffle (like the one in the picture below) and screwed the speakers in.

After, I trimmed off the excess baffle material for a clean fit. Since I did not install coaxials (speakers with a tweeter right on the speaker) I did not need to worry too much about excess height though.

You can see the metal tabs in the picture below (I had not yet installed the baffles though) ...

Just bumping this thread since a lot of people have been IM'ing me asking about install specifics. For those folks - please check out the pics and descriptions in this post - they cover a lot.
