isn't vermont still part of mass?

seriously, for local riding, there are some decent xc courses, but for anything fun, you'll have to drive. either west to the berkshires, or north to NH, VT, or ME

First off... Welcome to the EOC. Best place to get info on Mountain Biking would be mtbr.com (http://www.mtbr.com), they review everything and it is all fully searchable and includes a ton of reader reviews.

The site also lists just about every good trail and some bad in every state with reviews and pictures as well as directions to the trail.

Trail Reviews for MA (http://content.mtbr.com/cat/united-states-trails/trails-massachusetts/PLS_4554CRX.ASPX)

Hope that helps. :)

If you live in NB I can tell you a few place to hit the trail.

1. Freetown state forest is a good place to start. Tons of trails and fire roads to ride on. Some of the trails will kick you butt. Roots, rocks and puddles up to you knees.... The fire roads are a much easier....

2. I like to go to Potter School in Dartmouth. (next to Wal-Mart) You can park in the Wal-mart lot way in the back or in the school lot after school hours. Head out in back of the school and pick a trail into the woods.

These two places will get you started.

If you ever want to hit the trail send me a message and we might be able to go some time.... my skill level is mid-to-low these days I don't get out much these days....

i do not of anything in the new bedford area, or southern mass. there is some great riding just south of boston at the blue hills reservation. also just north of boston is lynn woods and the middlesex fells (which was written up in mt.bike magazine!) there is also a trail called vietnam (a befitting name) in milford that is run by nemba. milford is pretty easy to get to off of 495. check out nemba further to see if there might be some trails closer to you.

This trail rocks. Some parts are harder than others. Still loads of fun. :)

I don't know how far you want to go from fairhaven. There is also some riding in Mattapoisette in the industry park of 195. Just go down to the end of the road and park at the start of the dirt and go....
