I have read many posts on here about how great Eagle One works on the black plastic exterior panels. So last weekend I did it. My wife stays in Milwaukee Monday thru Friday. So she just got home last night and I noticed that there is a white haze all over the plastic panels!!!
How do I get this crap off and bring the panels back to the original look? They now look like the black plastic fender flares on my old beater 1984 VW!!
Help, we might want to sell our E and I want it to look good.
Thanks,
Sean
What Eagle one did you use??
I use Eagle1 Wax as you dry everyweek and last weekend I used the Eagle1 NuWax.
I have never had a problem with my plastic panels.
How did you apply it?

If it wasn't the Wax-As-U-Dry product, then you shouldn't have applied it. Good luck getting it off if it's from an actual wax. I've read peanut butter, or vegetable oil a couple of different times, so try searching the forums under wax and panels.
Good luck!
(Next time just use some 303 on the panels)
I have been using Eagle One Wax as you dry for a couple years now, and never had a problem with the plastic panels. I DID have a problem with streaking with the 303 after a rain.
I think someone mentioned recently that E1-WAYD JUST changed their formula (new formula is in blue bottle, old was in red bottle), Hopefully the new formula isn't a problem on the panels. I would hate to give up the ease of use of E1-WAYD.
Olive oil should remove the white left by wax on panels.

The new stuff is kind of greasy.

If it streaks, you used too much!

Sorry, dude - I think you're being way too critical. Eagle 1 is a great product - when used properly!!! Did you follow the directions? They are very specific when they say that you must use it sparingly.
Also, you should use it when the E is wet. I like to get my car washed first, dry it off, then use a separate water spray bottle in conjunction w/ Eagle1 spray wax (blue bottle). I wet a panel down, spray the E1, then buff dry. It sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't. The water helps dilute the E1 wax solution. I only spray, at most, twice per panel - that's all you need, really!
I have used both (red and now blue) bottle versions on the Eagle1 WAYD.
I lay it on pretty heavy (few sprays per panel).
Never have had a problem with it.

ok guess I screwed this up all on my own. I never saw that the Eagle 1 product was a wax as you dry product. When I went to autozone they only has one Eagle 1 product so I bought it. It's the nanowax product! :-o I talked to the guy at autozone and he sold me a product called Prep-All Wax and grease remover. He says it's safe for all surfaces. I'll test it on a small section to make sure it doesn't stain/ruin the plastic panel. Then I'll probably do the peanut butter trick. I talked to a couple of detail guys and they swear by the peanut butter or peanut oil trick on black plastic. I'll take some before/during/after pictures and post so if anyone else ever makes my mistake they can see how to remove the wax. MAN DO I FEEL LIKE AND IDIOT!!
Sorry about the rip on Eagle 1 it worked wonders on the rest of the car.

I DID have a problem with streaking with the 303 after a rain.
I did a little research on this since I will be selling 303aerospace products on my site shortly.
Turns out that the product is water based. Thats good for the environment. But it's not so good for the adhesion of the product in certain conditions. If you put 303 protectant on the car in the evening, it may not dry completely before the evening dew sets onto the cars body.

The 303 had DAYS to dry before the rain came and caused streaks. I scoffed at others that claimed to have this problem...until I had the problem myself. I just figured it was excess 303 or not enough buffing or something...but nope...it just likes to streak on the panels in the rain.
So I stick with E1 Wax as you dry for the exterior and 303 just for the tires and interior.
YMMV
