My mom's place on Georgian Bay is available. Your more than welcome to put up you tent in the back yard..... there's a nice spot near the hot tub :). And we can leave the back door open for you, in case you need to use the facilities in the middle of the night....

Georgian Bay Tim? I'm on my way up there for the holiday weekend (Canada day is it called?). Working though. Staying up in Barrie for the weekend.
Getting up there Friday and leaving Tuesday. Hope to beat the rush up the 400 on Friday afternoon.

You don't mean the 2nd weekend in October, do you??? October 8,9,10th is Thanksgiving up here!!! Do you really think you'll beat the friday traffic on the 400!!!????? That's the last long weekend on the year!!
That is the weekend that EVERYONE historically closes the cottage!! EVERYONE will be trying to beat the friday traffic on the 400!!

I assume your going to Alliston? Why would you stay in Barrie? It's an hour drive from Alliston. You would be better off at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston. Let me know if you are. I worked 20 minutes from there for 7 years.....

I usually try to get to the hotel by 230 or so on Friday to try and beat some of the traffic. Your right I'll be in Alliston for work. The Nottawasaga is nice for being so close to the plant but I travel a lot for work so we usually try to stay at a Holiday Inn or somewhere where we can get the hotel points. Last time I was at the Nottawasaga it didn't have the internet access, have to be able to reach the EOC boards :)

There's a Holiday Inn on Queen St ( Hwy 7) at the City Centre in Brampton. 5 minutes from my home, and about the same distance from Alliston, as Barrie would be, but on this side of Alliston.
Just a thought, but wouldn't it be easier to be on this side of Alliston, than on the far side of it, especially on a long weekend? :)
(you would get to leave home an hour later  )

I looked that one up on the net, looks like a nice hotel. Unfortunately the company already made the travel plans.

Hey Carly....you beat me to it with this post! I almost started a similair thread but wanted to offer at least one idea before posting. It's a good thing I don't do recreational planning for a living, or else I'd only be eating franks & beans since.......I'm still waiting for one good idea!

My days off are Sunday and Monday, and we'd be up for a Sunday meet. Camping would be great sometime but I doubt if I'd be able to schedule any extra days off at this time. Lots of nice, pretty places to drive this time of the year but the hard part is coming up with a place to meet and park our beloved rides........or is it? :| I suppose all we really need is any park or recreation area with picnic tables or just a place to tailgate for that matter. The other part of the equation is who's neck of the woods we "meet" in and how far of a drive that represents for others.

HERE ARE A FEW IDEAS:

There are some nice spots around here: Skinner Park on Rt 47 in Hadley, MA (breathtaking view from the Summit House on top of Mt. Hoyoke), Mt. Sugarloaf on Rt 47 in Sunderland, (also a breathtaking view from the summit and only a fifteen minute drive from Skinner Park), Northampon Rail Trail ( a 14 paved bike path with parking lots and picnic tables in different spots), Look Park in Northampton ( A really nice park with lots of picnic tables, pavilions, mini golf and a train ride!) and finally Mt. Tom Reservation in Holyoke which also features some great views and nice picnic spots!

Wheww!..... Looks like my coffee just kicked in! I have limited time to conduct much on line planning, website info, formal announcements etc, but I'd be happy to do my best in providing some additional info or directions if anyone is interested in any of these places. I believe Denise and I are free every Sunday with the possible exception of October 9th.

Any thoughts or other suggestions for a last chance" fall meet? :)

EDITED TO ADD: I didn't realize when I was posting this, that I was in the "Greater New York" owners forum.....oops! :-o Sorry Carly, wasn't trying to talk everyone from your area into driving to Massachusetts although you are certainly welcome. I think I'll add my suggestions into a thread under "New England" and see what happens! :-D

No problem, I just thought it might be nice to get together over the weekend, but I wasn't really about to drive to Barrie . Our whole family comes to our place for Thanksgiving, so we didn't really have much time, but we figured a few hours on Saturday evening....
Maybe we can work something out....
