Ok, so I have read about subs and within the next month I want to upgrade my facotry speakers and put a removable sub box in my 04LX.
But, I want some opinions on the best setup for me.
I listen to an incredibly wide variety of music, and I want "some bumb", I will not be in any competition but I do want something decent.
I ordered and I am getting ready to install 2 12" Alpine E-Series subs in the trunk of my 96 Prelude. Keep in mind that those subs are going in a trunk and must thump hard to be heard by be in the car.
Now, there is no "trunk" in an Element, so that kind of setup in an element might be......overkill?
What do you think? Is it worth it to put so much bass in an enclosed space such as the Element?

Let me know what you think.
My favorite artists are Bjork, NIN, Rage Against the Machine, Crystal Method, etc. (These kinds of music I listen to the most)

Thanks.

Well, for such an eclectic musical smorgasbord, I think you would be best served with either one or two 10" subs. I am using 2 10" JLW6v2 subs, running at 600 watts. THe 10 is tighter and more accurate than a 12", and you will not sacrifice much in the way of frequency response if you go with a good 10.

JL is the way to go, IMHO. unless you get W7s, they are not hideously expensive, they are efficient, and will match well with whatever power you need - meaning they make various levels for different wattages.

I don't know your bugdet, but I should think a JL 300/4 with JL VR or XR components front, coaxials rear, and a w6 10" with a 500/1 would be pretty awesome, just make sure whatever you get that you get it dynamatted.

Props on Crystal Method. I've been a fan of theirs for years. Saw them live a few times. If you dig them, you should check out Deepsky - a bit trancier, but they absolutely bring houses down with their live shows.
