How does everyone think this will eventually affect XM Radio? Will this force Delphi/GM to spin off XM on its own so that the restructuring doesn't harm XM down the road?
I am NOT starting this thread to begin an XM vs Sirius thread or anything like that. So please keep those comments to yourself.
Personally I have been surprised that Delphi/GM hadn't spun XM off about a year ago when they had their larger lead over Sirius.

 I had not heard about that, I hope it does not adversly impact XM, I have really began to like it since my E came with it. I used to think there was no reason for such a thing ......or for computers, DVD players, CD players, cell phones.................. :|

Here's (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/09/business/09delphi.html) a link to the story in the New York Times.
XM is a small part of Delphi. I don't think it will make any difference.
The problem is future health expenses for their workers, not XM radio.
If anything, it would make XM stronger, making it bulletproof for a while, at least until Delphi emerges from bankrupcy.

Here's a story on CNN.com (http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/08/news/fortune500/delphi_bankrupt/index.htm) about it.
XM might be a small part of Delphi's bottom line, but it is going to be a big part of their future... unless they screw it up. Spinning it off could help Delphi get out of bankruptcy sooner then some time in 2007. It could also give XM a better chance of staying in the market.
