Any price feedback for an EX All wheel drive? Trying to get a fair price range here in Southern California. Thanks!

I can't speak for Cali but in FL I haven't found a dealer who will negotiate on the price so what you see on honda.com is what you'll pay (even on accessories). I ordered a 4WD EX at the end of December scheduled for mid-February delivery. Price was 21,310 + 397 dealer prep.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking to get the Orange colored one with basic upgrades. I've submitted a request for a price through the honda site, introduced myself to a local dealer and will try one more to get a price. I'll post my cost here once I order it.

If you're the least bit handy, I would order your accessories from one of the discount Honda part web sites (www.collegehillshonda.com, www.cheaphondaparts.com) and install them yourself. The parts are original Honda part, they're discounted pretty significantly from the dealer prices and like the good doctor said, you don't have to pay a union dude $8 to install your floor mats. The sites also provide the factory installation guides so it makes it pretty easy.

I read some posts online. There's a thread discussing what everyone paid for theirs. Most paid MSRP or higher depending on which market you're in. Here's a post from someone in Cupertino:

We paid MSRP on our automatic 4WD EX and that was by going through the Costco car sales program. But the couple that walked into the dealership while we plunked down our money paid MSRP too for the same thing ... but then, they bought the Shoreline Mist that was sitting lonesome and ownerless in the lot. They claimed that other dealerships in the San Francisco Bay Area quoted them prices $2000 above MSRP.

I just took delivery in Westminster, Colorado on my Blue EX AWD. With roof rack and remote entry I got out of there at about 24,000 with tax and everything.

I am loving everything about it. The MP3 jack works slick, the inside feels huge and 270 watts is way more than my ears can deal with. Honda did a fantastic job on this. Already have my climbing gear, skateboard and snowboard as permanent residents.
I can't wait for aftermarket parts.

Hi,

When my wife and I went to the dealer, they said that they were selling the EX at $1000 over list. They also had a sales promotion going, $1000 off any car, so it did go for list.

Other dealers here were selling for up to $2000 over list.

Nobody here in South Bay/Long Beach California area wants to quote prices on the EX other than sticker price. The internet conection from Honda.com gave me a local dealer as well that is quoting MSRP as well. Visiting local dealers to shop for a price, I've noticed on the Elements that they have in stock, they are adding wheel locks for $199 for the set (ouch!!!). So far, my first experience purchasing a Honda vehicle has been rather poor, but maybe not with this model... I understand that the Mini-Cooper, due to the high demand, is a little bit of the samething.

my 4wd ex was just a little over 24K with goodies...(East coast)

GOODIES: roof rack, fog lights, keyless entry, security system, side step, bumper trim, cargo cover, storage armrest, skylight screen, plus free leather steering cover & seat back bungees. not too shabby!

Good luck on the Good deals, the hard part is the wait and getting the car.. whew taking forever for these to trickle in huh?

I was able to get the EX 4WD automatic model with keyless & ignition kill for 21,400 in Northern VA just outside DC. In hind sight I felt I could have shaved an extra 400 off as well. I just wanted it so much I caved early! Oh well. They had 23,500 on the sticker. They stated that the demand for it was high so they could get the extra cash but I countered with the state of the economy and the fact that I would take the blue one on site instead of waiting for an orange one. I liked both so this was no loss for me.

Hope this helps.

Local dealers in Philly are starting to get in quite a few. Looks like you can go $600 below MSRP without batting an eye for 4WD EX with no additional options.
Has anybody gotten extended warranty info. What dealer cost is, etc?

Hey neighbor (SideshowBob) I am in Delaware, here the dealers are usually kiler about price, but if youfind it lower some match no problem others match with a fight.

I went with a dealer, after I had been checking them out for a year or more, regularly... who consistantly had the lowest price.. they also gave me alot of discounts, free stuff, and lots of incredible service, so i am extremely satisfied, we also will be getting another honda before long, so we have someone who we know will give us a great deal & great service!

I am glad though you are getting some nice deals in Phillie.. keep us posted on what you get etc..

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND DOING THAT. IF YOU INSTALL THE PARTS YOURSELF, YOU WILL VOID THE WARRANTY OF THE PARTS AND POSSIBLY THE CAR DEPENDING ON THE ACCESSORIES THAT YOU INSTALL.

GYPSYTDA
02-05-2003, 05:47 PM
PSKBEAR: most people here are having the crucial items installed by the dealer, or they really know what they are doing.. certain things you do want to have the dealer take care of, to have it covered under warranty.. like anything electrical or anything drilled...

but there are still many accessories that are just really accessories, like trim pieces, and attachments.. thankyou for your suggestion.

Took delivery of my EX Sunset Orange element today. I'm not proud that I paid exactly MSRP here in Torrance, California. I can say that I learned a lot through this board on how not to pay over and about ordering the asscesoris online then install myself to try and save a little...I just hate to pay retail, but my lease was up on the Trooper and I had to turn it in. I shopped the internet, dropped in on dealers and had the person who I normally order my vehciles through check prices for me. Everyone said the same thing..."retail". My advice is try to save on the asscessories side. The only things I had installed were the rear spolier, steering wheel cover, and the drivers side rest. There is a ton of information online already to help you save. Good luck!

Grand Honda in Chicago area advertised 2003 Element 4WD EX for $19,675 including destination. I called them up and asked them if they would sell me one for that price. They said as long as I would take blue or orange they would sell me one for $19675.00 plus tax, title, license and a $50 doc fee.

LOL! If I haven't heard that 100 times. I won't install the foglights myself, but I would bet $$$$$$$$$ that Honda will honor the mnfr warranty if I put everything else on myself. Can you imagine the PR nightmare Honda would have if they actually challenged someone for putting on their own floormats?

You sound like a dealer to me that doesn't want to lose the sale....LOL!

I ordered my 2WD EX Auto January 11th for MSRP in Oklahoma City. I believe they had only sold one before I came in so they threw in keyless, security and door visors for free... and they let me bring my dog into the dealership.

I just got a call from the saleperson tonight and I will p/u my E on Saturday... accessory timeline yet to be determined (like is was a surprise that they should be in stock when the vehicle came in). I would say that I have been waiting patiently but that would make me a liar.

I bought my orange 4WD EX a couple weeks ago for 21,000. I had to fight for them to come off the 310.00! Some of the other dealerships were coming down to 20,750, but they either had silver, or none in stock. My dealership also gave me a free "owner's club" membership which has some perks. What helped me was to go online and e-mail all the dealers in my area to obtain offers and counter-offers. I even had to print these out for my dealership so they could justify coming off the price!

I picked up mine in North Hollywood for 23k. It was 21310 but then with the sidesteps, fog lights, privacy curtain, sunshade, armrest, rear spoiler, and 2 front seat covers in came out to a little over 23k. I have had it about 3 days and love it.

I just have to get this off of my chest. I have been waiting for over a month for my shoreline mist 2WD-EX.A to come in. It was suppose to come in tomorrow and be ready for me to pick up (accessories would arrive in approx 2 weeks). I called my salesperson at the dealership in Okla City this afternoon to see if I needed to bring anything. It is a 90 mile drive oneway and I did not want to turn around and have to drive back on Monday.

Well... the salesperson informed me that my E will not be here because the car they were going to trade didn't come in. This really sucks. If I didn't call I would have drove down to pick up my car and it wouldn't be there.

But that is not the first chapter in this story. I had already test drove a DX and EX at other dealerships and made a trip to OKC to see the silver color. I liked the color but did not like the interior, so I wanted to order the shoreline mist. I asked the price and they would not give it to me unless I was seriously wanting to order the vehicle (this should have been a sign). They finally quoted me MSRP and threw in some accessories so I figured it was a pretty good deal and I gave them $500 to put the order in and signed the "Deal Sheet".

I was told it would be here Feb 15th but they could get it faster if they traded with another dealership so in all probability it would be here in a week.

A week later I called to check on the status and add some more accessories to the order. My sales person told me not to worry about the accessories, they had them all in stock and I would be taken care of.

Wednesday the 12th the salesperson called to tell me the vehicle will be in on Saturday but they would not have all of the accessories for another 2 weeks. Sooo, if the car was here I would still have to drive 180 miles to bring it back in 2 weeks and get them installed.

After I talked with the salesperson today and he informed me that my car wasn't in, I remembered someone saying on the forum they got their E in Norman, so I called the dealer in Norman and asked what they could do for me. In 20 minutes they located the E I am wanting, they have the accessories in stock and said, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I can pick it up tomorrow.

Has anyone else had this much run around and confusion getting their Elements? and does anyone know if I am still required to honor the "Deal Sheet", is it considered a binding contract?

Thanks for letting me vent, I love you guys! HAPPY VD!

RML

OkieBug,

Without reading the deal sheet, I can't comment on if it is a contract where both sides are to do something (pay and get the Element). Many of these are just things that you sign so that you feel like you paid something and will be getting your car. However in many cases, if you make some noise, they will refund your money. Just try to do it calmly, and politely. That goes much further.

As I mentioned in another post, there is always small claims court, as well as other ways to push a dealership.

After over a month I just picked up my shoreline mist 2WD EX. Thank you DStrand for turning me on to Fowler Honda in Norman, Oklahoma. I have mentioned my woes with the other dealer I was working wiith and Fowler came through and located my E in 20 minutes, with delivery the next morning. I wasn't able to get the accessories installed but the sales person said he could get them installed on Monday and deliver my E to me in Tulsa (120 miles away) Monday evening (I did decline his generous offer and will bring it back next Saturday).

Thank you FOWLER MOTORS in Norman, Oklahoma and sales person CLIFF STRAILEY for working so hard on such short notice to make my E dreams come true!!!

Just bouight one for 19750 from Autofair honda in New Hampshire.

I live in RI but no dealers in RI, MA, or CT would budge from sticker.
The only problem is that it is so new, most of the dealers I have been to are telling me all different prices for service. They didn't have anyone in to do a keyless entry when I bought so I have been asking around her and I am getting answers between 80 and 250 for installation plus the 150 for the part. Anyone know of a fair honda in the RI area?
BTW. Rides really smooth and handles great in the snow. Stereo system is great too.

pbt476,

You also saved the sales tax by getting it in NH. :D

While I have no idea what a dealer in RI would charge, you can check the Honda web site for their list price on the keyless entry, and the installed price. I found that my dealer was pretty close to the price that Honda listed things at, including installation.

tommyz,
I got my E from Rothenthal Honda in Tysons Corner. The sales guy that I dealt with was named Koffie. I got mine for $1000 off of MSRP. The only thing that I had to pay was tax and tags. Don't let them tell you that processing is non-negotiable (I didn't have to pay it).

Tell him that you want the same deal that he gave me. Tell him that I referred you.

$20,150 is not a bad price. But bring the quote. I am sure that Koffie will beat it.

Went in for the Pilot...left with the Element. What a cool ride! Paid: MSRP for the Shoreline Mist, BUT, got Fog Lights, Roof Rack, and Keyless installed for no charge. Other Minnesota dealers are willing to waive the $460 dest. fee for all but the Sunset Orange. Very tough to get says the dealer here in the MidWest. They are going for over sticker and are pre-selling. I can't wait for the 1st road trip!

I already have it picked out. . . EX AWD . . . Nighthawk Black. . .but, oh my what a price for accessories and labor to install!!!! Here is the quote that i received for the Accessories and the # of labor hours for each with the final tally . . . .

Fog Lights $253.50 3 Hrs Labor
Switch (Gray) $ 9.10 Wow, no labor charge here!
Side Steps $341.90 2 Hrs Labor
Roof Rack $214.50 1 Hr Labor
Armrest w/Storage $ 97.50 1 Hr Labor
Keyless $115.70 1 Hr Labor
Security System $154.70 2 Hrs Labor

So, there we go $1,186.90 for parts and at $55.00 / Hr for labor, another $550.00 for 10 hours of labor. Grand Total for options = $1,736.90

I have decided against the Side Steps, so I get to scratch that option. However, I will probably do some of my own installation and let the dealer install the more complicated accessories. A few of those items I can definitely do on my own. With information that I have gotten on this incredible site, I'm definitely gonna save some bucks!

Thanks to all!

Unfortunately in RI you get to pay the tax when you register the car. In NH you don't pay any tax at all. As for the remote keyless entry, my wife was told at Majestic Honda in Warick, RI that the installation alone would be well over $1000. I ordered it online for $106 after looking at the instructions, 1 screw and 1 connection.
