: Downhill shuttle called E
spotthedogg 10-15-2005, 09:45 AM Went to the hill with the girlfriend and 2 buddies on the weekend, 4 bikes 4 riders. When we got there what we did was take turns driving, the driver would lock thier bike at the bottom and we loaded 2 on the hitch rack and one inside with one seat folded up so someone had to sit on the floor. It worked out great and we got 11 runs in!

We had to ride about a half mile to the summit as the gate was locked :| kinda sucks on a 45lb DH bike.

A great fall day for mountain biking and a great E made it possible!
Hondamade4dogs 10-15-2005, 11:18 AM Do you find it a pain to put the bikes inside ?
spotthedogg 10-15-2005, 11:36 AM A bit but it takes less than 1 minute so no biggie! Obviously always put the smallest bike in.
Element1010 10-15-2005, 12:24 PM Where is this downhill trail located?? Nice bikes by the way.
G-force 10-15-2005, 12:53 PM You guys look pretty hardcore. I really need to find some new riding buddies since all my old ones now have kids :-x
It's been 5 years since my big crash and brain hemorrhage
Wear those helmets kids, I am lucky to still be around.
spotthedogg 10-15-2005, 02:22 PM That's a small hill, the closest to my house, it's in Campbellton New Brunswick, Sugarloaf Canada. Less than 3:40 per run but it's a good trail. The next closest hill I frequent is Mont Ste. Anne Quebec, but it's 6 hour drive :|
Definitely always wear the best helmet you can get and use one that's designed for the type of riding you are doing. Side note: if your helmet is over 3 years old and you ride off road chuck it and get a newer-better one :)

 The same thing happened to my snowboarding friends, they all have kids now.
Nice pictures
biocube 10-18-2005, 05:30 PM when that happens to your friends, do what i did:
go to www.outdoorsclub.org, and download the flyers (its free outside of LA). print and post at the local bike shop/rei/ski shop. go to the website and post a ride, and then you have instant riding/hiking/skiing partners of similarly afflicted people who get an email about the event based on distance from their zip code.
my friend and i did this in LA, and we now have about 3k people in the area on the local part of the website. but the website is configured so that you can start up local groups anywhere in the US (i'm unsure about canuckland).
at times, there have been active groups in CO and VT and other places. it just depends on people posting the flyers so you get a critical mass in your local area.

I've been an E owner since 2003, and luv it!
The trick to putting DH Bikes into your E is to load them from the side doors, that way you dont have to clear the upper lip of the rear hatch. Just scoot your front seats all the way forward (seat backs too), and roll 'em right in. I regularly load two Long travel DH/Freeride bikes in the E with the rear seats folded up.
We also shuttle 3 bikes, 3 riders, and 1 driver in my E. To do it, you must remove the rear seats from the vehicle. We leave the rear hatch open, with the tailgate closed, and hang the front wheels of the 3 bikes out the back "shuttle truck style". Driver, 1 rider in front. 2 riders sitting on the floor in front of the bikes. Will take pics on our next mission.
