Finally got some pix back from our first camping experience in the E, at the Dave Matthews Band show at The Gorge in August.

And that, my friends, is what camping is all about!

Markus, nice tent! Do you guys use a pad or something to lay down over the seats, or just use a comforter to lay under? Whatever, looks comfy.

We didn't. We just put one unzipped sleeping bag underneath and one on top. Next time, we'll definitely take along an air mattress of some sort, as the seats do have some interesting little dips. They weren't uncomfortable; I just think an air mattress would be better still.

what size air matress would fit on the floor with the rear seat up?

Full should be just about right. I go with a twin and have a little extra room on the sides.

MikeB>>Where do you stow your gear when you camp with the mattress on the floor like that?

One thing we liked about folding the seats flat instead of up or taking them out was that our gear then fit underneath them (except for our cooler, which had to go on the passenger-side floor in the front).

We bring a good sized tent as well. We generally sleep in the tent, but I thought the element would be more comfortable if the wind comes up.

Yeah! Markus your correct, those seats are pretty bumpy, I have slept on them and was surprised that I got a good nights sleep. I tried using my Therma Rest that I use when I go backpacking but the pad slides all over the place, you have to cinch it down some how but the best thing so far was a blow up mattress(not to be confused with doll) that worked best with less air, too much air didn't work for me. I bought the thing at Big 5, it's by INTEX 28"X70", which is perfect for one person.
