: NO SNOW! Just rain tires!

Hey guys. After my pops rode in my E this afternoon in the E, he was very uneasy about me driving with the Wranglers. And if he doesnt like them, then that means, NEW TIRES!! Ive also found the Wranglers to be very uneasy in rain, ESPECIALLY on the highway. And Im very frequently on the highway, to and from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Houston. And with the crazy weather down here, I find myself stuck in rain showers and cant bring myself to go above 65 for fear of losing it.

So, heres my question (and yes, ive done my searching), I need a good wet weather tire, that does well on the highway. The only ones that ive read that do this are the Kuhmo KH11's and the Alenza's. And I cant find Nokian's anywhere local so those arent an option. So, thats my question, are there ANY OTHER tires that youve experienced that have GREAT wet weather/highway traction?

Living in South Louisiana, my E will never touch snow nor do I ever take it off road. So, most of the tires that have been recommended for snow wont work. Also, Id really rather not have a knobby tire. The flatter the tread and look of the tire, the better. If you guys can offer any help, ID REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

I am sure that a number of tires will be good in rain. I have had very good luck with Cooper Lifeliners. What ever you buy, look for straight rain groves to avoid hydroplaning. You have to get the water out from under the tread. + if there is any chance that you will be in snow be sure you have a M/S rating. There are some places that if you get stuck and block traffic and do not have a M/S rating you can get a ticket.

I've been looking for new tires as mine are original with 33K on them and are not gripping very well. I will probably go with a new set of Good Year FORTERA TRIPLE TREADS. They are not even available yet but are due out in late November. Tire Rack has them listed. I need a Quiet tire that grips at hi-speed highway driving and sheds water well. My earlier choice was Michelin Cross Terrain SUV's. But after reading all I could and seeing the Forteras in person that is where I'm headed. Hope this helps.

I got a price of $165 each (mounted, balanced, etc.) which is not close to cheap, but I feel comfortable when my wife and daughter are out in bad weather with good tires.

Goodyear has just released their triple treads in the Fortera model, might be worth having a look at....

You are right about the Wranglers, they suck in the rain. Just replaced my 03 SOP with a 05 RR E. This time I went ahead and put the Yoko Geolanders on for a small upcharge. These tires have been among the top rated on www.tirerack.com and are less than $100 ea. I really like them in the rain here in GA.

I had some piolt sports on my Subaru that were amazing in the rain. Serious traction. Only drawback was they seamed to wear out fairly quick.

Remember the oem's are "goodfor1years"........they have to be the cheapest worst tires I have had on a car. Just got 4 new shoes for my "e", bought at a local tire "shop", not a tire "boutiques", can't tell you the name of the tires, generic i guess, but the handling and tread are much better that the oem's, and 500 treadwear.....................

What about Aquatreads? They work in the rain.

The Fortera Triple Treads are looking promising. Anybody have experience with the Aquatreads?
