So you have washed the car, clayed it....do you wash it again before applying the polish?

You shouldn't have to; I never have, just wipe as you clay. A small panel at a time so you don't air dry.

Quite right, you should not have to wash the vehicle again. If you are using a good lubricant while you clay there should be no residue left behind.

yea the directions I read said to wash again. But I just gave it a rinse and quick dry, no soap or anything.

But everyone else is correct...it didnt feel worth it once I did it.

I usually spray with a waterless wash or quick detailer to remove any clay residue if I am going to go straight to wax or sealant.
If I am going to the machine polish after claying, I don't wash at all.

Yes! Wash again after claying. Definately.

For a larger, generally more zealous community of car care nuts, I recommend checking out the car care section of www.corvetteforum.com (http://www.corvetteforum.com)

They know clay.

I never do. Once in a while I will go over the car with a "quick detailer" but that is it.

I have always washed after claying. It gets the painted surface clean, removes the clay residue and any dirt the lay picked up and left behind. Just a small step in the long process of detailing.
