It's nice to join the ranks of Canadian E owners. I'm in Ontario and have wanted an Element for a while. It was time to say good-bye to our 1993 Civic SI hatch. We have a 1998 CRV that is our main vehicle, but I think the E will get more use now. There's only the 2 of us and, with 2 large dogs and my plant buying forays, the E makes a lot of sense. It took a while to get my hubby convinced (he thinks it's ugly  ), but the pros outweighed the cons.
At first I was all set to get a 2006 red with black panels, but then found out that the only 2006s in Canada will be painted panels and only 4 colors. Then the hunt was on to find a 2005. There were only 5 left on Ontario, and only 1 red (non-demo). According to my dealer, Honda allocates only 5000 Elements to Canada per year. At least that means will stick out in a crowd :D .
I got a hood deflector and mud guards and have ordered a cargo mat from elemmat. We'll eventually get a hitch, but Honda wanted $875 for it, so we'll look elsewhere.

Congrats, we picked up our new 2005 Element this past Wednesday. The local dealer here in Ottawa had a black one and a red one left, my wife chose the red one (good choice). It had 25km on it, of which we probably put 10km test driving it. He came down over $3,500 form MSRP and we used the 2.9% financing.

The only option we went for was the block heater, I will buy and install mudflaps and a Lund bug deflector later. I have already ordered a Murdock mat for the back as well since the dogs need more grip. We have a Komondor (115lbs) and Puli (40lbs). I know many people on this forum say to always use a kennel for the dogs but that just isn't as practical with big dogs. In the Subaruwagon they were behind a metal dog gate, but I don't know what we will do in the Element.

My wife eally enjoys driving up, probably the best vehicle for the money that suits all of our needs.

Good idea about the block heater! We have one in the CRV; I guess I'll be calling Honda back soon.
I just spent the afternoon on a short road trip. Boy, it's easy to drive and handles really well. I'm putting the dogs in it tomorrow (70 lb lab X and 40 lb husky X ). Knowing them, they'll probably want to try to sneak up front :D . I already took out the driver's side rear seat; they'll enjoy the space.
Nice dogs you have; uncommon breeds around our neck of the woods. Do you let the coats grow out, or do you have them shaved?

I was thinking about removing one seat, rather than folding it up since that seems to block side visibility. I just know the day I remove a seat is the day I will have to cary four people for the first time in a year

Yes, they are unusual dogs but my wife is half Hungarian. We are growing the dog's coats. The Puli is 5 years old and has nice cords, but the Komondor is less then 2 years old so the cords ar just forming. Our friend has a Husky, they have such stunning eyes.

I was hoping to wait until the mat gets here before I load them up again.
