I've check the Modile Electronics threads and haven't seen this topic: Has anyone installed speakers in the rear pillars in the cargo area? I want to add more sound to the rear of my Element.

Alpine once did in an Element they turned into a show vehicle. They wanted a 5.1 surround sound system so the rear speakers became critical. Through a build out, they even put in components. Here (http://www.caraudiomag.com/competition_corner/0404cae_corner/) is part one of their install. Look at pictures #2 and#10. Unfortunately, part two of the install isn't on line. :-(

Nice Link!:)

Wish I could see the finished product.

Thanks for the link. The speaker they used are a little larger than what I'm looking for. I'm basically hoping to duplicated the front A-pillar speakers in the rear. Is this doable by a local shop you think? Tying in rear speakers to the existing system?

If you dont mind me asking, why would you want more sound in the rear? I know for being in the drivers seat most of my sound is coming from the front speakers.

To me the rear speakers could be thrown away for all I care. You get most of the sound quality from the fronts.

Just curious, let me know.

Tying in rear speakers to the existing system? It would be a relative piece of cake to add tweeters flushed into the rear C pillars, using them to complement the rear door woofers. It might sound a little strange, with sound coming from two different areas, and you might want to consider mounting the tweeters flush in the rear doors instead, close to the woofers, but to answer your question, it would be very doable.

By the book, you put the tweeters near the woofers. My motto is to hell with the book. It's your car. Do what you want with it. :)

I want rear speakers because when I watch DVD's in the Element, which ultimately leads to a nap, the sound is more in the front than the middle-rear where I am stretched out. Rear speakers would give me more of a surround-sound.
