:) I often see different members try to have meets in their cities. Has there ever been a SA meet ,if not why? Are there enough of us in the SA area to pull it off? Just before I got my E, I saw several E's at a BBQ joint on 281 on the way to Blanco. Seems as though that might be fun. Give some replies if interested. A trip to Enchanted Rock, Lost Maples or Chalk Bluff could be a ripping blast!

Looked at your profile. I have an old friend that used to tinker with all kinds of electrical gadgets and eventually started a company in Austin called High End Lighting. Have you ever used any of his stuff?:)

It's Richard. He and I worked together many years ago at a state school. Worked with his whole family. Damn small world, heh?:grin:I have only heard very good things about High End, especially how they treat employees. Hope you all have a cool Christmas and a great new year. Tell Richard I said hello! It would really be great to see him. GO LONGHORNS:grin:

I'd gladly do a San Antonio meet, but I bet we'd have more folks if we combined the greater SA and Austin area folks. In the link Grivas posted above, we discuss just that with the possiblity of switching cities each time, or meeting somewhere in between like New Braunfels, San Marcos, etc.

Now that I think about it, Black's BBQ down in Lockhart might be a good run one day...

yes all this should be discussed on our meetup this weekend in austin.... possible places for the next meetup. maybe if its a little warmer we could float the river.

Just got my new Element. Has anybody ever used that camper tent accessory that fits on the back? I'm thinking about it but would like some comments from users.

I would love to do a meet in SA/Austin area. I live in the RGV area and SA is the closest big city besides Corpus.

I know this is going to piss of some people but,,, It's valid information.

I personally have not used this tent but I can give you my advice on camping with the E.
Unless you need the space for sleeping there are more cons then pros with this accessory.
Having access to the rear of the E when not in the tent is something you will be very happy to have.
If you have to go into the tent to access the gear and you store you camping bins in the rear of your E you will be frustrated.
If you need to do a store run or take your vehicle somewhere then you have to disconnect the system. I am not sure if the tent accessory can stand alone and be sealed up but if it doesn't that could suck.
Not all camp sites let you get your vehicle close to the tent area. Many State parks have tent pads and the pads are not positioned in such a way you can get your vehicle in the right place.
As I said if you need access while inside the tent this is a plus. I have a 3 room tent so I do not need the extra space.
One final issue. If you are connected and you are outside ,,AAAAnd it is raining,, then you have an issue. This means you have to access your vehicle from a side door which is not covered and you will get rain inside the car. Also when accessing gear in the E while it is raining you can stand under the "clamshell" doors in the back and be out of the direct rain. This is important info.
Keeping important outdoor activity items such a fishing polls and such locked in the E is smart. Having to go into the tent to get these items if you want to remove from the rear is a pain.
Rear access to the E while outside of the tent is so important.
I camp with my E quite a bit. and I recommend getting a good quality multi-room tent. Especially if you are fan of State Parks.
that's my 3.2 cents

Howdy, I just got my E on the 3rd, how about a meet in Gruene one day, shoot some pics and then maybe drive the backroads back to SA and get a good burger or bbq or sumthin'... Devil's Backbone comes to mind... Hill Country beauty...

Just a thought, they don't come very often...

Gruene is great great idea. Nice drive a very pretty scenery.
You should eat in Gruene.
also do it on a sat when there is a concert. Gruene Hall is great for kids and it is very family friendly. At Gruene the kids get to run all over the dance floor and jump on the stage.

I'll almost always be in for a Gruene run. Afterwards (or before) we can go for a little Hill Country tour.

I'm STILL in for a meet and greet in the San Antonio area. Gruene does sound nice. Great scenary and the Grist Mill is a nice place to consume some carbs. I go to Gruene all the time on my Harley... love to ride River Road. My '04 E made the trip a couple of times. My '07 SC is chomping at the bits to go.

Let me know if anyone is headed to Gruene and wants to meet up. There are quite a few Es in the San Antonio area. We should be able to pull this off.
