I just got my E yesterday, 05 EX AT AWD. I'd like to know how should I treat my E. I read in Owner's manual and it mentions only not to step the gas pedal too fast, not to use hard brake or some like that.

My question is,
if it is okay to drive brand new E at 80MPH. I also see that the oil change schedule every 5,000miles so when is the first oil change should be done on E, 5,000 miles? I normally have oil change plus oil filter on my old car every 3,000 miles. Should I do that or it waste of money? I plan to keep E forever so proper maintenance will be done. Thanks guys.

Welcom to the club. Good luck with your E.

As for driveing ay 80 mph, well not a good Idia.. As for brake in drive normal, just like you usally do ( not at 80 mph.). The oil change, It's best to do as Honda tells you to. Don't waste your MONEY !!!

You can drive any brand new car anyway you like so long as you don't use the cruise control or keep your speed at a constant for the first 500-1,000 miles. Other than that "drive it like you stole it".

Only reason you wouldn't want to drive at 80 in a new car is the same reason not to drive at 80 in an old car... the chance of getting caught speeding. lol

As for when you should change your oil... Honda says to wait for 5,000 miles for the first change then it is either 5 or 10,000 mile intervals after depending on the year of your Element. Check your maintenance manual or you can register on Owner Link (https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/) on Honda's website.

With new engines and oils the old 3,000 mile/3 month standard has gone out the window. Oil change intervals have extended to 20,000 miles for some cars. Just go with a good synthetic like Mobil 1 or Red Line or something similar and you will be fine at 5-10,000 intervals.
