A good tamale is hard to find. Have you ever heard of a fish taco? I saw a show about them a couple of weeks ago.:)

You poor deprived soul, you have to come to So Cal, where every roach coach sells fish tacos but if you want a real treat, you have to try lobster tacos, the best ones are below the border, Rosarito, Ensenada, yum!:grin: Woops! lost my train of thought, yeah! The Tamale Festival sounds terrific, I will try to make it there, maybe we can all meet somewhere?:-D

sorry joeboxer but Rubio's is not close to having a real mexican taco. There are a lot of roach coaches that sell very good authentic tacos. Especially outside bars in La Puente, Long Beach, East Los, Wilmington. For real seafood tacos you go across the border to Rosarito, Ensenada, Puerto nuevo.

Im up for the Tamale fest. I dont think I have anything planned for that weekend.

Huell Howser did a show from the tamale festival a few years ago. PBS usually repeats the show right around Thanksgiving. He has been a judge, past years, for the best tamale.

Man now I have to have tamales!!!! I sure hope I can find some good ones up here somewhere.

Just to be in the spirit, I went and had steak tamales.

We have a lot of really good tamale store fronts on the south side of San Antonio, but a friend of mine is from El Salvador and she makes a completely different type wrapped in banana leaves, uses white masa, chicken and olives. Excuse me while I wipe the drool!:roll: Oh, since Thanksgiving is over, Feliz Navidad!!!!!!!!!!

How I wish i can travel that far. But my wifey is 8 months preggy! too much of a risk for me and also wifey wont let me go alone. she also wants to enjoy travelling.. maybe next year..:-D

Man...I'd love to hit one of these with you guys but 2&1/2 hours is just too far to drive for a tamale in Indio.

Sorry I didn't reply, sooner, I was up in the air' up to this morning, if I could take the drive ( sacrum nerve). I didn't go.
I didn't want to be troll like and not even reply. I know if anyone went, they surely had a good time.

I went to the Festival and it was great. They had carnival rides, live music, dancing, Jessup models, bud girls, and the budweiser clydesdales. I ate so much that I was almost falling asleep at the wheel on the way home. Here is what I ate: Sweet tamale, 2 beef tamales, chicken tamale, lobster tamale, mexican corn on the cob, and two mexican hotdogs, and drank a whole lot of Horchata. They had every freakin' kind of tamale you can think of.

We had a really good time. Im there again next year. Good call fishlee
