it sucks? does it not do something that you expected it to do? if you really don't like it then don't use it i suppose, but i am not sure that your expletive is warranted here.

I think the change bin is cool, but not very practical....it is very hard to get the change out without some of it falling on the floor....and I am right handed and find it difficult to use my left hand to get the change out, especially while pulling into a toll booth.

Just my personal opinion!

I really like the change bin, but I too hate it's location. Unless I'm out of the car with the door open I have a devil of a time getting the "right" coins out of it. On the up-side, it fills up fast and stays that way because I'd rather spend paper or dig in my pockets. When I get to the car wash, I'm greatful for it's current design because there's usually enough quarters to do the job! Maybe adding a second one would be a good compromise.

For once I can tell my left-handed friends that a car has a feature that actually works for them.

Not so fast, there, Staggie. It's as awkward for us as it is for righties.

Maybe I am a freak (wait, I am but that is beside the point.) I have no trouble getting change out. whether sitting in or standing.

Boneheadz......maybe you have BIG hands 8)

I really think my problem is that my hands are too small to grab the change and pull it into the palm of my hand. :?

StLouisPenguin

It is standard....left hand side of the steering wheel......just below the cruise button....it is kinda easy to miss

The change tray is fine...Same place as my old Civic.

It seems to hold lots of coins. Which is perfect for me

I am very tall (6'7"). When I am not careful, I scrape my right shin bone on the #$%^^@ change door. Pavlov would be happy as it doesn't happen nearly as often anymore. I do have lots of nice scabs and scars from the door though.

i put change in the cubby behind the ignition. it's a lot easier to reach and you can see the change. there isn't anything in the actual change bin.

Yeah I was pissed because I thought it was one of those food machines like on star trek where you press a button and your food appears before you. Damn, that's why I bought the element! :D

Heeeeee! Whenever I'm frustrated by a lack of technology I mumble to myself "We need Star Trek!" My friends have come to accept this as one of my quirks.

Ok, I put my first dime in the change tray the other day. It slid around every time I went around a corner. I'd hate to see a bunch of change in there. Then again, maybe it's my driving!

I guess like a lot of owners, I stumbled across this thing by accident. I had the vehicle like 3 weeks before I found it. It kind of blends in close to where the hood release is (which is how I found it). It seems to be a trait of Honda's. I've had 2 Accords (1981 and 1997) and they both had these types of trays.

I might never have found it on my own. Fortunately, my dealer showed it to me when she was running down a list of features.

Is it big enough to hold your vehicle registration and insurance cards or papers? I usually use the ash tray to hold these documents, but since there isn't one, will the change tray work?

StLouisPenguin
05-21-2003, 08:09 PM
Ummm your insurance card will fit....not sure how big your registration card is in NC....but I imagine you could always fold it.

Alien Element
05-21-2003, 09:10 PM
Insurance and registration cards are both credit card sized.

Should fit just fine then. Also not a bad idea for my parking garage cards.

My only complaint about the change bin is that it's always empty. Honda should give you some quarters or tokens with purchase :D

You are lucky we get a free tank of gas that comes with the E :D

Welp, I'm left handed, and it's still quite a challege to grab change out. However, for all of those commuters out there, it's great for dollar coins and toll coins.

Anything smaller than that is a def. challenge!

I put my change in a film container to keep from rolling around the tray. Luckily the only time I need change is for parking meters. For tolls I have EZ -pass. My second favorite thing...... after my E

We've been Honda owners since 1987, Accord, Civic, Cr-V, Odyssey, Passport (doesn't really count as a Honda) and while the change bins are not the best, they do serve the porpoise. Actually, I keep toothpicks in mine, my wife has all the change.

I too have hit my knee several times but not on the change holder but the dashboard at that spot. As for the changer when I need to use change I throw it in my cup holder. When the change tray gets to full I move the funds to my Vegas vacation collection jar. Works for me! 8)

quit picking on a little piece of plastic. Because f you really want an easy access change tray use any of the numerous dash pockets, or a cup holder, or door pocket, or just chuck it on the floor and make a game out of looking for it when you need it.

Heck the E is one big change tray!

Mwhahhahahhaaaahahaha! Alas, the righties know our pain...all those years of school-desk arms on the wrong side, all those golf clubs and guitars and bowling balls. Wait a sec, bowling balls? I never was that bright...okay, time for my therapy appointment now.

p.s. I use the top tray for change, to left of wheel.

Considering the vehicle has been pitched to the younger crowd, I think this tray was intended for the guys to store their emergency supply of birth control devices. Ooops, should I have said that?

I choose not to play in this tray any longer.

Hey Epeeps,I actually didnt know what that little trap door was for,but I swear I inserted my garage door remote into it and it has been working great. The opener doesnt have to hang around on the viser and its a quick deed to pop the cover and up or down the door.BTW,I bought a couple of those plastic oval change keepers for the pocket of your pants...cant beat em!!!

I urge everyone, for the sake of the economy, to stop hording your change and spend it immediately! For the love of all that is decent go and buy a Slurpee (get the Hulk size). This has been my creed since my house was broken into and all my change was stolen along with my coin organizer. You can use the bin to store all your receipts.

I use the little change drawer to keep the key for the locking gas cap. Plus a couple dollars for any bridge tolls that might surprize me.

I find that this is the perfect place for a package of sugar free gum but a few times I have accidentally turned off the cruise control looking for the gum drawer while driving.
