: soap and the panels?

I use the mr. clean autodry system.....but i'm thinking the soap is kinda weak. I just made a trip to VA and back (around 800 mi. round trip) in horrible weather. I had alot of road grime on my E. It all came off except on the panels. I've washed them 3 times but you can still see the spots of the grime. It's almost like it's in the panels like waterspots would be in the paint. My question is ----- Shouldn't road grime come off with a sponge and soap? I certainly think it should, but maybe i'm using a weak soap. I don't know.

I've already searched the wax on, wax off and have not found the answers i'm looking for.

I'd just like to know what everyone else uses to clean their panels. (especially from those who do alot of bad weather driving)

thanks in advance!!!!

Like i said......i know that peanut butter does the trick....actually any kind of vegtable, olive, or peanut oil will work wonders removing stains.

What i am curious about is......what others use as a car wash solution.

You shouldn't have to get out any kind of oil or 303 ect. every time you drive in bad weather and get simple road grime on your E.( that will stain) I'm sure there is a car wash out there that would remove it easily. (road grime that is) i know wax is a whole other story......for that.....like others have said....peanut butter or vegtable oil.

thanks for all the replies so far.

I've used Simple Green and a scrub brush with good results, but when they're that grimy I follow up with a Mother's Back To Black treatment.

I've always had a tire bucket and a soft brush I setup with Simple Green, so naturally, I just migrated that to the panels before I hit the tires. It works great and is not really an extra step for me since I was already doing it. Finish with 303 protectant and it's done.

Ditto on the brush usage. I use one on my panels when they gat really dirty. I like to have the hose at hand to rinse each section as I clean it so that dirt can't re-settle in the panel's tiny crevices.
