I'm eager to get my alloy wheels powder coated dark gun metal.

Anyone know of a good shop around DC (preferably northern VA) that does this? Any of you have experience with powder coating around here?

Whoever does it I need to have them keep the E while they're doing it and unmount and remount the tires. Otherwise I'll have to buy another set of wheels and do it that way.

Have so far not found any aftermarket gun metal wheels, or black wheels, that I'm crazy about.

Seriously though I've been meaning to ask this very same thing.

close. I used metal+"powder coating" in Yahoo Yellow Pages for the DC area. Received the following
Premier Powder Coating (301) 772-3200
8521 Rainswood Dr
Hyattsville, MD

Afi Powder Coating Inc (410) 888-9228
8844 Washington Blvd # B
Jessup, MD

Don't know the quality or prices of the places listed above, but if gunmetal grey wheels are what you are looking for, I have Rota wheels on my miata (gunmetal grey) that were about $110 each (versus $255 for replacement rims)

I'm looking for the same color in CA.No powder coating shops had the color I was looking for, which was a dark gun metal or graphite. I found the color in a Dupli-Color wheel paint Graphite from Autozone. I gave the sample to the shop and they sent it out to their colors guy. Using a color sample may be the way to go for you once you find a shop.

Thanks, Fig. This is definately looking like the way to go. And I do like the shape of the EX alloys.

Someone on EOC has already done this but I can't find the photo.

I just had the wheels on my NBP coated. The color is called steel gray T028-GR02 made by Cardinal Industrial finishes. I've used this brand on hundreds of pieces for my cars and around my garage. There is no spray paint that even compares to the durability and finish.

I'll post up some of my freshly powder coated wheels tonight if I get around to it. Here's a color chart.
Steel gray is a dead match for the dark gray cladding and looks awesome on the E.

HikerChick, SpottheDog has a thread that has this color on his rims. He used the wheel paint but it would give you an idea of how the color looks. That is the color I used for the powdercoaters to match.

Going to have to wait until after the holidays, that's all I have time for now.

Shopping around here is such a chore.

If everyone I knew had E's, shopping would be much easier. Close friends and family would get Murdoch mats. The next tier would get tray liners.

old thread, but i'm interested in something similar. Any luck?

I own a powder coating business in Washington, D.C. It's called DC Powder Coating. We do many types of metal refinishing, repairs, and powder coatings. You can find more information here:

We are a low-overheard facility, and thus our rates are very competitive. We also offer free pick-up and delivery at your own convenient location - typically at your office building/etc during the daylight hours.
