I was wondering what the security sytem install is running? i was going to do it myself but I need an oil change and thought how much could the install cost (I had already bought the part). Man had I known what they charge for the install I WOULD have done it myself. I was wondering what the average charge for just the install of the security system is running?

Here in Chicago, the avg labor is $70 to $80 an hour. I believe the alarm system is a 1 hour job.

That's what I thought it was like here (labor rate of around 60 or 70 dollars). The dealer said two hours for the install...fine that will be about 130 right? But he said that these installs are a "package price" :? and the labor rate doesn't apply to this install. What kind of crap is that :?: I ended up paying close to double what I thought I would pay :evil: . Like I said....I'll do everything myself from now on! Forget my original idea of being sure its done right, I'm sure I could have figured this out!

I let my dealer install my alarm and keyless entry because i didn't want to deal with it. The dealer gave it too me for $435 plus tax. The install was perfect but the tech's gouged my speedometer and the automatic face plate. They fixed the speedometer but have to go in next week to fix the automatic face plate.

Element: Did that include the parts or was that just labor?
