I just bought a new '05 Element EX. While I miss my Miata, it was time to get practical--and the E is practical *and fun* especially in fire engine red and black. One thing: what's the point to the "arm rests." I put "arm rests" in quotes because they seem totally useless. The driver's side rest is nowhere near my arm (which is not in an odd place) and is so short it barely reaches my waist. When my hand is not needed on the wheel (at a traffic light, e.g.) there is nowhere for it to go! I'd suggest either leaving the rests off or provide ones that can be of some use. Other than that, I really like my E.
p.s. At a year sort of 70, I love being a "junior member" of anything

Welcome to the forum eagle37.
Congradulations on your new E
I see you are searching for arm rests solutions. I see you have been busy looking in the archives. If you like to get specific info faster, and like to build stuff. try the search function or FAQ/ How To's in the tool bar/ header.
An arm rest is available though honda as an add on try this link to the HandA accessories this is a sponsorer of this site and have monthly specials, you missed the arm rest it was octobers special, but their regular price is a lot lower than the dealership:

Welcome to the E club Eagle! I too just purchased the E and will be selling my Miata in the spring. I love my E (I got the manual just too keep ties with the Miata) but the Miata will be hard to give up. It's just such a comfortable little gokart :D I'm in the same boat of having to buy the accessory Honda arm rest because the stock one is worthless. It looks to be a very easy upgrade.

Yes the arm rests are not as good as I have had in other cars. Bad design, Positioning, not long, high, or wide enough. Must have been designed for children, or verry small people. I did not want the bulky storage arm rest. I am waiting to see if someone comes up with a mod I like. If not I'll do it myself in the spring. I'm looking around the boan yards for an E that has met it's demize. I'll pull off the stock units then mod them. That will keep the wife happy. I take too long doing the mods for her. One day it too long for her in some cases. SO until I find some used parts it will have to wait.

I too had this problem when I got my E. But having bought the Honda accessory, I can say it really doesn't satisfy the situation either. It's too short, and too low. I want to see the aftermarket "tower" that is offered on e-bay before I spend that much, or I may design something myself.
In sum, unless you are the long leg - short torso type, the Honda part may not please you. My 2 cents...:|

Modify it to make it longer and higher?
