Went through my car wash stuff to make sure it wasn't freezing up, and my clay bar is growing mold! I stored it in a ziploc with some of the lubricant. I didn't think there would be anything for it to feed off of, that is what amazes me. I guess I'll need to go get a replacement in the spring.

I'm thinking the moisture from the lubricant/spray wax may have been the problem.
I just keep mine stored dry in a ziplock with no problems.
But then again, if it's going to be while until I use it again I just sheet-can it and buy a new one.

Yes the clay does get moldy. It still works. Mine is over 4 years old, and lives in a ziplock. Some times It's Green, at times It's grey, And once kinda pink. But still works.

You should only be using little pieces from your large chunk of clay. Once the small piece you are using gets filled with contaminants you should throw it away. If the clay is filled with contaminants it will end up scratching your finish more than expected.
If you break off small pieces and use that your big bar should stay dry and fresh in a ziploc for your next round of claying.:)
