Hope this hasn't been already posted. But Edmunds has an article about an Off Road FJ Cruiser Special Edition.

It will be interesting to see if they can hold their planned price point.

A possible convertible version is intriguing.

My brother had a '71 Blazer with removable hard top and that was a blast!

Apparently, Toyota is releasing more FJ Cruiser information. And Edmunds has posted an FJ Cruiser Road Test.

Good news is that they liked the design and off road capability. About a third of the review concerns the radio. Looks like a strong engine with a six speed manual. Surprisingly rated at about 20 mpg with 91 octane fuel.

Other than good news is that the “as tested” price was $29,500 with a later “prices start at less that $25,000” comment. A little grousing about having to open the front door to access “a nearly inaccessible rear seat”. Some unknowns include the size of the blind spot due to the C pillars. The rear visibility was described as “tanklike because of the wide C-pillar and tiny corner window”.

Looks like an interesting spring.

What happened to the initial hype on this thing?
All I heard was that prices were going to start under or around $20,000.
It was geared toward "entry level shoppers."

That was obviously B.S.
Big difference between $20k and $25K, let alone $29k for the "offroad" version.
Which is, by the way, what they are all supposed to be.
It's supposed to be an FJ-40 for crap's sake.

Here is another FJ Cruiser review. This one is from the Detroit News’ Anita Lienhert.

Anita describes the two wheel drive Cruiser model as a vehicle that “would be lots of fun to take to yoga class or other girlie activities.” She expects “decently equipped models” to come in about $25,000.

She also provides good insight into who Toyota views as the Cruiser’s competition. This isn’t the Element but the H3 and the Wrangler Rubicon.

She describes 2 wheel drive automatic mileage as 18/22 mpg with 4X4 as 16/19 mpg. It’s a nicely done review from a unique perspective. You can find it at:
