Welcom to EOC Tim .. Sick no, cool yes. I would love to see the photos. There are so many types of monitors that it's hard to give you a price. I would think that you would place the monitors, then have the DVD/tuner mounted remotly to save space. I took a quick look on E-Bay, there are about 20 that will work. You can use it to get a price information.

If you haven't seen it yet by searching the forums, Empire has a monitor on the passenger side dash tray that looks real nice (as does all of his work).

The passenger side dash mounted monitor I used is actually a 6" headrest monitor itself. I never really used the passenger dash shelf all that much before so it always seemed like wasted space......so I stuck a TV in it.:D
I scoured Ebay and the headrest monitors seemed to be the best choice for size and fit. I knew I wanted one with a black casing and with the buttons on the left closest to me incase I ever need to turn it off manually from the driver side. I figured buttons along the bottom would interfere with the lower dash lip. So I settled on this unit for about $100 and it just barely fit. It had to be forcefully wedged upright and couldn't be any tighter. I custom made a casing to fill the side gaps behind the monitor and once finished it really does look and feel like it was meant to be there from the factory. I use my 7" flipdown way more often but I just love seeing it mounted over there even if it serves me more as a showoff gadget than a convenience accessory. Oh it also comes with a tiny credit card sized remote with a ton of on-screen options including color and picture controls along with a sleep timer and the ability to flip and rotate the picture if the monitor need to be set sideways or upside down or if it were to be used for viewing a backup cam.
Like I said, I made it so it's a very tight fit so it doesn't rattle or squeak and it's positioned at a comfortable angle so typically the picture is very easy to view even during full sunlight. The single power/AV wire is run thru a small hole I drilled thru the dash behind it to get the vid signal from the main DVD/nav headunit. For this I did all the installation myself. A couple nights planning and constructing the plastic casing and test fitting and then one night for a couple hours of making the connections and the actual install. I'm not sure what a shop would charge but for me it was a fairly cheap and surpisingly easy install for the finished result being a very visual interior modification that still blends right in.

If you have kids, it's cool, if not then what's the point? If you want it for tailgating the I think a 10" or 12" flipdown is a better choice.
