Anyone done this for amps?? is there an "easy" way to do it that looks clean?
I need to run a thick wire for my amps from the battery, im experienced swapping HU's but never run from battery, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You have to go through the firewall and across the floor. Put a fuse the value of the two fuses in your amps added together right up by the battery. Go through the firewall. There was just a recent thread about this for you to find. Remove the vehicle's floor. Run your wire right next to the existing wire harnesses so the floor goes back in correctly. You may elect to go down the side under the rocker panels instead to get past the doors.

Here's (http://www.bcae1.com/) a great site that will help you out no end: Basic Car Audio Electronics. You want topic #19. You can get the highlights for free or download this guy's extensive work for just $10 through the end of the month. I can't think of a better way to spend $10 if I was starting a big install.

You may also want to do some searches. All of what you are asking has been discussed here before. :)

Thanks for the info Outpost, I did search the threads and really couldnt find an example of exactly where someone has drilled or whatever to get the wire into the car, Ill keep searching though.

thanks

I did mine through the transmission shifter linkage boot shown here http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19077

There's a way through the engine compartment (right rear of the engine compartment behind the fusebox) that comes out in a knockout to the left of and above the clutch. Wasn't easy to feed the wire but it works.

It was super easy! I ran it from one of the hot wire fuse blocks (screw) on the engine compartment fuse panel, across the back of the engine compartment(wire tie it to the metal bar thing) along the strut brace and through the firewall in front of the glove compartment. There's a pass through there. Then along the rocker panels(pop them out) wire ted to the rear window pisser tube and anywhere in the back you need it. I ran the 6 guage red monster cable. Took about 45 minutes.

Nope. Amplifier. The trailer isn't even set up for 12 volt. Everything is 15 amp AC or propane.

Dan,

I used your advice and you are correct it was easy! I punched a small hole in the boot that holds the wires going in thru the firewall, used a piece of coaxial cable (with the ends cut off) to fish thru the fire wall and voila! so easy! You to have to lower the glove box to get easy access but that one is easy too. Now to hook up the amps and wire the speakers!!

Thanks guys
