i'm starting to regret my decision to go with 17" rims...maybe i should have gone with 18's....i was just worried about rubbing and the sidewall on my tires being too small....it seems the tires to use for 18's are 245/55/18 and 255/50/18's.....are there any problems running these tires as far as rubbing or anything.....i have seen those sizes on here and they seem to be ok...i'm a little low on money right now so it's not like i can go buy 18's even if i could sell my 17's....hmmm

When i put new tires and rims on my old civic, i used discount tire's online store to determine tire size. i looked up the larger sizes for the element here http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tirePlusSizes.do?rcz=55378&mk=HONDA&rc=MNMINT&yr=2004&vid=007699
I would assume they have tested to ensure there are no ill effects from using the sizes they list, as they would be liable for any problems or damage! they do list the 245/55/18s but not the 255/50/18s, so perhaps that extra centimeter in width does create problems with rubbing. At 245 you're already 3cm wider than recommended for stock (215), but it would probably also depend on the type of tire as to whether or not rubbing would occur(i.e. the stock goodyears vs. a set of bfg all-terrains might fit differently even if they are the same size).

i think to use the 255/50/18's you just have to have a wider offset...like 40 or 35 instead of 45 or 42.....there are people on here that are running the 255/50/18 toyo proxes st with no rubbing....i would be more concerned about the 245/55/18's rubbing because the diameter is a lot larger than the stock diameter....but ibe car has them on his ride and so did goboxgo...i guess either size would work if you had a wheel with a wider offset....like my 17" offset is 38....the 18" version has a 35 offset so i'm pretty sure rubbing wouldn't be an issue

ok this is a long shot but i would be willing to trade my 17x7 enkei or52's with hankook ventus 235/60/17 tires as well as my factory ex alloys with original tires for some 18x7.5 enkei or52's with toyo proxes st size 255/50/18...maybe someone who needs summer and winter setups could trade with me

Hi, I just put 18's on my e with 245/55ZR18 BFG. The wheel is 18x7.5 with a 40mm offset and I have no rubbing problems at stock ride height even with 5 people and luggage in the rear! I will be posting pics within the hour. Hope this helps
