So, after doing the research, it seems that the proclip mount, although expensive, is te best way to mount the ipod. On the website, there are 2 different mounting options.
Which is the best place to mount - to the left or right of the stereo. I was thinking the left would be the most convenient, but might get in the way. It Also makes cleaning up the cords harder.
However, the right seems like it may be less easy to use while driving.
Any thoughts?
Also, if someone feels strongly that they have a solution that is better than the proclip, I would love to hear about it. I'm not excited about the price.

What generation of ipod do you have? I have a proclip swivel mount for a 4th generation if you are interested.

I just installed the Bracketron PH_MINI tonight for my Roady XT reciever...it came with attachment's that should hold an i-pod no problem. This bracket can be installed on the left or the right as well as on top of the radio as i have. The lower bracket holding my cell phone is made by Arkon. It's a little on the bulky side but did a great job of holding my i-pod in place.
I have pictures on mine somewhere here on the site.
I've not been around for awhile, but I will try and dig them up for you.
I went with the proclip on the right side (passenger side). It does block the tuning knob and semi blocks the vent control knob.
I think the left side (drivers side) would have almost completely blocked the radio controls off and the fan speed control knob.
There is another bracket (bracketron ??), that I actually like better as it keeps the ipod completely away from the existing controls on the dash. However, I have been told the bracktron is weaker and causes the ipod to shake around.

I have the bracketon mounted on the right hand side. Never had a problem with it when I used it with my 4G iPod (in combination with ProClip Swivel mount). It is still mounted there, I have tried just using velcro on my nano but it keeps coming off the silicone sleeve I have on the nano. Maybe I need to buy some stronger velcro.

ha-ha, I need to correct my statement.
The proclip does semi block the tuning knob and #6 memory button.
However it doesn't block anything else. I hang my ball cap on the ipod when I am not using it, and that was what I was thinking of when I said it blocked the vent control knob. I just knew I had to move something to get to the controller, completely forgot it was my hat :)

Box4Rox has a good comparisonm picture between the 2 types of brackets.
