: POLL: Tire choice
Rover 01-04-2006, 08:27 PM Time for a tire poll!
I'm hating my stock Goodyear HPs and looking forward to the day when I can replace them. I'll probably get a top quality all-season street tire because I don't anticipate doing a lot of offroading and would like to gain some QUIET and some HANDLING improvement.
What kind of tire did you upgrade to? Please reply with the specific brand and size and your results good or bad...!!!
:) :) :)
brotherc20 01-04-2006, 09:42 PM this is what i bought when i replaced the junk OEM tires.. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+H%2FT-S+G051
i have had good results with them...great all around...i have around 34,000 on them prob another 10,000 miles left on them to go.
hardguy 01-04-2006, 10:58 PM I got the BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW-2 in 255/45/18's all around. They are rated as ultra high performance summer tires by Tire Rack and they stick like glue in dry or wet but are absolutely useless in snow and ice though. That's why I had to put the stock 16" and goodyears back on for winter.

spdrcr5 01-04-2006, 11:21 PM I can't participate in the poll... I am using stock wheels but my tires are slightly larger than stock because they were not available in the stock size a year ago. I am running less than 2% larger than stock.
Nokian WR SUV's.
mvalore 01-05-2006, 07:31 PM Just completed my first full day on new tires. Replaced the horris Goodyears that were OEM with Bridgestone Alenza. A bit pricy but the changes are astonishing. Way quieter on all types of pavement, Much crisper handling and a better overall ride. I would highly reccommend the upgrade

What size did you end up with?

ElementalMember 01-06-2006, 09:14 AM I've got some Falken Ziex S/TZ04s .... same size as stock. Dunno if it's the tires or me, but when I'm tired I've noticed I tend to float in the lanes more easily ;-(
Slight squealing when going fast in turns, otherwise tires seem fine. No issues on dirt or gravel (nothing major, just packed sideroad dirt/gravel travel for me).
Element5 01-06-2006, 10:51 AM Replaced with stock size Uniroyal Laredo Cross-Country at 300 kms. Happy with the performance so far in rain, snow and ice. They were considerably cheaper than Michelins but have similar ratings. Check them out at:

Elemen-O-P 01-06-2006, 11:43 AM Upsized to 215/70/16 Pirelli Scorpions. One year on them and no complaints, great for snow, rain, even dry conditions (a little hum though).

heishin2 01-06-2006, 01:21 PM I put on the 20's. I've always wanted to. Its not that bad of a ride just a bit harder. However, since I dont and cant drive fast in the "E anyway...its all good to me.
Reemo_2001 01-09-2006, 10:52 PM I'm running Hankook Ventus 265/35/22's on my E and they handle pretty good in the rain, cool and warm temp's. but we havn't had any snow here in Charlotte NC this winter so I don't know yet....Hopefully I won't find out....lol.

Thanks for all the feedback. This one in particular sounds like a good bet for the E. A bit pricey, but with those kind of results it sounds worth it. I see by the poll results that you stuck with the stock size...?
Keep the votes coming!
kvilledrummer 01-12-2006, 12:50 AM 235/70/16 Bridgestone REVO AT's - very happy with my tire purchase! I've had them for about 7,000 mi. Road noise is about the same to just slightly more which is not bad for an offroad tire. Handles great in all weather conditions so far. Haven't seen any snow yet, but offroad traction & wet traction has been exceptional. I expect my next set will be another set of the same unless they go downhill quickly. Hopefully, they'll have another rebate when I need a new set. They are a bit spendy.......but well worth it IMHO.
bobhch/hchbob 01-12-2006, 06:07 AM BFGs in the winter. Continentals on 18s in the summer.
