For those of you that have gone to larger rims 17 or 18...
have you gone off roading? does this make a difference?

is there a combo /tire / rim that is the favorite of the group?

thinking of going 17 with an MDX Chrome rim/ tire combo?

anybody?

thanks

What size and model of tire are you thinking about? Rims don't mean a lot with respect to rough road use, except that with larger rims you will have fewer tire options that will fit.

Also, what do you mean by 'off road'? What have you done so far with your Element?

light offroad....trails and such...

I want a 17 combo and wanted to know if people with larger rims risk any damage going offroad...is there a limit for size??

I know the 20 inch crowd may not be going to go in the dirt...

here are some threads found with a search on '236/65/17'. This size has about the same sidewall height as the stock tires.

Typically you want to run a smaller rim and a taller sidewall profile.

The goal is to maximize the amount of rubber and allow for airing down.

A larger rim diameter is not ideal.
