The CD player needs to do CD TEXT. Don't know why that was left out as it does the mp3 stuff OK.

Why do you need CD text?

Don't you know which CD you put in the player?

I always thought of that as more of a useless novelty than a feature that you'd actually need.

Ranger, I think he's referring to the text for the track/song title

I've added CD text to some of my homemade projects and it's great. You can see the song title, and on a compilation disc, the artist and even the songwriter. When you are 15 songs into a disc, it does help. :)

That's what I figured too.

I understand the theory behind it but I'm of the opinion that it'd be nice if people keep their eyes on the road when they're driving instead of trying to read a song title.
:-D

I was noticing the lack of a CD text feature also. But another minor annoyance is the limited display capabilities while playing XM radio. The song titles get so truncated that it is sometimes difficult to figure out what they are. It would have been nice to have a scrolling display, or one with smaller characters so that a longer title would fit. Or maybe a two-line display so you could see the title and artist at the same time. That said, it's still the best factory head unit I've ever had in a car.

Yeah, I always insist that my passengers keep their eyes on the road too.......how dare they try to read song information off the radio......

I have this feature on the CD/MP3 player in my Tercel and I like it a lot.....My brother is always sending me compilation CD's with new music and it's nice to see this information when I find a song I like.

Exactly!!!

They need to tell me where I'm going.
:-P

Noone 'til now said that it was for the passenger.
I'd wager most who are asking are the owners and drivers of the E, not the passenger.
But it's just a guess.

So I suppose you've never glanced at the speedometer or rear view mirrors? A quick glance toward the radio shouldn't be too dangerous. Unless you are a slow reader. In that case, I would probably suggest that the driver try to memorize what he has burned.
