kissya 01-16-2006, 08:09 AM Looks like the Scion A and the matrix to me. I'll have to see it in person. Thanks for the Pics.:)
chimphappyhour 01-16-2006, 08:44 AM Doesn't look too bad for what it is:

Minus the plastic panels, it seems like a scaled down concept of the E.
dj se7en 01-16-2006, 10:05 AM I love the Fit! :D
They are saying its the smallest car that Honda has made.
Obviously they don't remember the Honda 600. My sister had one of THOSE. Now THAT was a SMALL car...but with a suprising amount of zip, and space inside.
Only downside was they would literally be punted in a crash. I literally saw one UP in a tree one time, where it had been punted off a mountain road.
Sure was a fun car with INCREDIBLE fuel economy. We used to call it the pregnant skate board.

I had one of those Honda 600s. It was a -horrible- little car. Punishing ride and no protection in a crash. My back window literally blew out and shattered on the street when a wind gust came thru the open windows! People in other cars just laughed histerically when it happened.
The promo page for the Fit is rather good. The marketing people did a nice job of illustrating the various seating configs for different loads. Well done, for marketing folks, who are usually clueless. To wit: their hapless targeting of "Surfer Dudes" for the Element when it first came out.
Bobman79 01-18-2006, 12:24 AM The FIT has the utility I was dreaming of when I got my '96 Civic hatchback. Man, those seats would have been awesome (looks like it's got about the same power and such too, only it's a VTEC). Of course, now I have an E, so I don't need a fit!
MikeQBF 01-18-2006, 12:30 AM >They are saying its the smallest car that Honda has made.
Who in the heck is "they"? If "they" are the US marketers then they need a swift kick in the butt for their assumption that their entire audience are morons who believe Honda doesn't exist outside the US.
Never mind the 600. The Honda "Life" is a micro car currently produced for the home market, and is considerably smaller than the Fit. It's tiny.

BOXER 01-18-2006, 12:45 AM Those cars look like Geo Metro's. Do people like these cars just because they are Hondas?
Arnie 01-18-2006, 03:52 AM I love everything about the Fit except the looks. They are growing on me- but I guess I'm not much of a hatchback person. Do cars like these really sell that well? It seems like the xA is the least selling model of Scions. I don't know- I love it's magic seats and fuel economy, while it could be better, is pretty good considering all it's bells and whistles I suppose. Thanks for the pics.
Sheniferous 01-18-2006, 04:00 AM Remember... the FIT is to fill the subcompact econocar void that made Honda (and Imports) so popular in the first place. With the Civic moving upmarket (hell, the interior is as big as our 91 accord) and Toyota's Scion line (and soon to be out Yaris)... Honda had to bring it out!
plus, I like it... if I didn't have an E i'd get a Fit.
;)
SquadONE YH1 01-18-2006, 06:44 AM This thing has been out in J-pan for a little bit now. Check out these pics. I took them at the 2004 SEMA show.
dj se7en 01-18-2006, 10:13 AM Its takes a special breed to like hatches and wagons. I'm one of those freaks. I personally will never own a 4-door sedan (hence the Element). Thats just me. So yeah... the Fit looks cool, especially the riced out one there. Looks like its straight outta gran Turismo. I wouldn't do it personally but it looks hot. Just my two cents...

Definitely agree with you dj......it takes a certain personality to truly appreciate the hatchback. My little Tercel is a great car for what it is, but after owning a '91 Si hatch, I have always wished it were a hatchback.
The Fit is way cool in my book. If my Tercel ever died I assumed a Scion xB would replace it, however the Fit would be the clear winner to me.
gfxguy 01-18-2006, 11:38 AM I would definately replace the E I use for commuting (when the time comes) with a Honda Fit. I've seen these all over in Brazil, and every time I visit there I end up in a discussion about how the American markets needs more vehicles like these, and how, even though we have an SUV mentality, there's a large segment of the population that would be thrilled with a new, reliable, low end, gas sipping, easy parking vehicle.
Bobman79 01-18-2006, 02:01 PM I think the FIT has a good chance to be successful in this country. The reason I really liked that Civic hatchback is that it was comfortable, inexpensive, fuel efficient, and utilitarian. I'm all for utility in my vehicles. That's why I got the E, after all. The FIT is right in where the '96 Civic hatchback was before, size and price and all, now that the Civics are moving up in the market (and size).
There's lots of people out there (I think:twisted: ) who will dig that little vehicle.
kilgoja 01-18-2006, 02:05 PM i like that fit...considering i almost bought a toyota matrix instead of the e....i bet the fit gets good gas mileage....but that LIFE honda is totally awesome!!!!
rymo926 01-18-2006, 02:37 PM Hey it was between the matrix and the element for me too.
Sheniferous 01-18-2006, 02:42 PM Hey it was between the matrix and the element for me too.
For me it was the Matrix, the E, or the Protege5...
Ranger 01-18-2006, 02:43 PM If it does start at around 12,000 it'll sell like hotcakes.
I know many people who'd buy one just as a commuter car for that price.
I think the only reason the xA is a slow seller is because of the xB.
For about a grand more you get the funky styling and more room.
If the xB didn't exist the xA would have huge demand.
