Hello all!!! Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to the gang. My daily driver crapped out on me last week so I decided to buy a new vehicle after 10 years of driving the same old car. I tried to pick up a used E, but the prices they were asking did not add up for me. Why pay ~$17-18 for a used vehicle when I can get a new one for ~$22? I sure love the way these vehicles hold their value!! Anyhoot, here she is, a 2006 EX-P AWD w/auto tranny.

In my case because that's five grand extra, and I'm a cheapskate! :D But yeah, that's the nice thing about Hondas and Toyotas both--they depreciate slooooowly.

Glad to see another Tenness-E-an!

Don't get me wrong, $5,000 is a lot of money!! I didn't want to spend it. I think I just wanted a new car after so many years. New or used, the E is a great value!!!! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Congrats on the new E!

We struggled with the decision to go new or used too. If it qualifies for Honda Certification, the used powertrain warranty can actually be LONGER than the new car warranty.

We happened to arrive at the dealer just as an 05' EX 4wd with just 7k miles was coming in on trade. The previous owner had spent a bundle up front adding most of the big ticket Honda accessories (roof rack, rear spoiler, front bumper trim, side steps, carpet, rocker panel trim, exhaust tip, fog lights)

I think we got an decent price, but all the accessories included made it a great deal.

Just made the deal today for a new 06' EXP cannot wait to pick it up on Saturday. I've been waiting to well over two years and debated it over and over the whole time. My Scottish heritage told me to buy a used one, but my Irish side said "screw that, get what pleases you and looks good". So, here it comes, live and in color, silver alabaster all over and loaded with damn near everything. It's the first ride I've had since I was 16 that really got my blood flowing, just imagining the possibilities. I'm 44, but feeling like 16 again, Bye

Actually, I'm not sure what I was thinking. I couldn't buy a used one even if the price was good, because my wife only liked the P models offered in 06 . She then limited me to black because she said it looked 'nicer' then the other colors. I was just happy to get an E and keep a smile on her face. All the other things like price, color, model, etc... just faded away when she said 'yes, you can get it' WooHoo!!!!!!!!

I just joined too... welcome aboard!

My daily runner was getting real tired: 86 4WD Subaru GL wagon 185K so I opted to go for a new car.

Three weeks ago we bought a :) new 2006 LX 5-speed AWD at their year end sale. Although it is already "a year old" we tend to keep our cars a long time, so no big deal. So far, everything works just as advertised, first fillup got me 24mpg 50-50 town-freeway.. not bad at all. I am amazed at the interior creature comforts, and the ROOM. Wow.

Like everyone else, I immediately upgraded (my labor) with Home Depot rock screens behind the grills, factory mudflaps, a Manix push bar, a pair of vent visors, and an IKEA mat.

No local dealer would mount Michelins instead of Goodyears, so I guess I will go the 30K miles or so, and then get Michelin LTX's at Costco. With moderate driving, the Goodyears are OK.

My only quibble is that this cute little breadbox does not have a manually operated transfer case as the Subaru did... but instead has fulltime AWD run with hydraulics.

One really good feature, is that one can dismount the rear seats in 15 minutes leaving a cavernous space with a FLAT flloor. One must be very careful remounting them to be sure that all the hardware engages.

I ran the math, to see what it would cost in 1959 dollars when I bought a new 59 VW Bug... and the cost in 1959 dollars turned out to be the same. Considering all the technology advances that have occurred in the intervening half century, this Element is very cost-effective!

Congratulations on your purchase!

Hello I am also new to the forum. What a great source of info.
I am especially interested in ways to cover the lower half of the radiator. Any new ideas are always appreciated.

There are many ways Posted here on the EOC. Do a search on Gutter gaurds also or Home Depot........ I will post pics of this when done in Where is bob thread... http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=309457#post309457

Well this took a long time. I have finished cutting out my Egg Crate Lower grills that will be held on with black zip ties. Dome5 came up with this Idea and will try to find his thread and link it here.

This is a fantastic Idea. I am going to paint it with Black Bedliner in a can as Dome5 suggested to me. Will be using a clear plastic paint adhesion out of can first. This is gonna look so sweet!

Thanks Dome5 this is a Fantastic idea of yours.

I was able to get full length pieces out of a 2' x 4' Egg Crate purchased from Lowes' with enough left to make 2 more sets.

FYI: The upper piece is half a diamond shorter than the bottom piece. Trimed pieces with a Dremel tool and this took a long time to do. I am a perfectionist and want it to look like it came from the factory this way when done.

Will post more pics of painting and install of these later. First I have to find time to get the bedliner paint and then do it.

Didn't mean to Hi Jack your thread...Sorry! Carry on now.....Ooooops....my bad.
