Today I was driving and out of no where my audio cut out (I was listening to sirius at the time) and at first I thought I just lost the satelite link for a second which is normal. After sveral seconds went by no audio came back and my receiver didn't say it was establishing a connection. I tries my cd and am/fm channels, but nothing. All that was happening was my subs in the back were still thumping a little, but that was all. After some investigation I found out my rear driver side speaker was being weird. By being weird i mean cutting in and out and visually the cone was popping outward and backward noticeably more than my other speakers (alpine type s). After disconnecting the driver side rear speaker and checking all connections after a few tries it started working fine again. It dosn't sound blown or anything. My speakers seem to be fine now. I had 3 screws holding the speaker in place and I removed one (I did this because i had my stereo on and as I unscrewed one of the screws the speaker came back on just fine). Also could the plastic covering be pushing on the speaker causing it to shutdown or something?

Any thoughts or ideas would be great!

P.S. these speakers are powered by my alpine deck.

I had a similar problem after upgrading my speakers. The problem was a speaker wire was making contact with the car's frame inside the door. I carefully bent the connectors and double insulated them, no more problems.

This is probably why it started working after you removed one of the screws.

Quite possibly. Also on a somewhat related note...My add-a-circuit blew a fuse today (it shutdown my fron accessory unit because that is where the add-a-circuit was connected to in my fuse box). I think this may have played a roll as well because my sirius is connected to the front accessory socket which is connected to my stereo, which is connected to my speakers. I sent Genom a PM to see if he can help me with this fuse problem.

Yesterday the problem came back with all my speakers cutting out and then only the subs in the back of my E receiving a signal. Once again the driver side rear speaker was the culprit. I got some shorter screws to mount the speaker with because the original one were hitting something behind the speaker and preventing it from screwing all the way in. This rectified the problem for now, but I am worried this is going to happen again. I can find no lose wires in any of the doors that would be touching metal as I use factory speaker adapters so it's really clean. I havent checked behind my deck for a lose wire...would it be worth it to take a look back there?

The speaker itself is still fully functional. Could it being semi-lose have caused the problem too?

Thanks!
