I have a friend who moved to D.C. and when it snows he tells things will shut down....

:grin: In eastern TN...yes if the snow is over 2" they close schools. They will close mountain roads too. If they predict snow, people rush to the grocery stores.....:lol:

Here in RI, we have more of a "boy who cried wolf" situation. The weathermen will predict 6", so everyone rushes to the stores to buy bread and milk. They'll close the schools early and start salting the roads at the first sign of a cloud. Then, we'll end up getting rain or a light dusting, if anything.

A few days later, they'll predict 4", but nobody believes them and we'll end up with a blizzard that the plows weren't ready for.

Rinse. Repeat.

Yes, they tend to close schools the night before it even snows. Unless they have lots of snow days, they get more ballsy towards the end of winter.

In new Jersey they do the same, run to home depot and the food store. They stock up on groceries as if they will be snowed in for weeks. I'm pretty sure folks could probably last the two days it takes to clear the rodes on the stuff they already have in their fridge. It is funny to watch the panic buying though.

:???: This is great pictures!! I love snow. In Quebec, our first snow of the year we had 16" of snow in december. Now we have probably more than 2' of snow on the ground, this is super for snowmobile. :)

I live in a snowy country and i don't have pictures of my 'E' in it, I think that i've got to take pictures to.

I just visited Quebec on business, what a great city. I’m thinking about taking a summer vacation there. Because of the winter weather, I was expecting to see all sorts of AWD and 4X4’s. Much to my surprise there were less SUV(s) in Quebec then we have in New Jersey (every other car here seems to be a huge SUV). The guy that drove us around had a rear-wheel drive BMV 5 series (with traction control). He was driving around 50 MPH in snow covered and iced roads as if it was nothing! I’m starting to think that the “I need it for the bad weather” line people use to justify their gas guzzling tanks just does not add up. Maybe we need to send these folks to driver’s education in Quebec during the winter months.

Take a look at the attachment. Quebec is cold, yes that is ice and snow.:)

Great pics. I drove home from south Texas yesterday with sunroof open and a/c on(in a rental as I was on the company dime). It might have been 80. I think spring is about here.

Cool....Brrrrrrrrrrr....Just got a dusting her in Nebraska. We set a record for high temp and no snow acumalation in January. As soon as we get some snow I will post. Snow I await thee....................
