does anyone know what the dimensions under the front seats are. i want to store my amps there and nned to know what size amps i can put in without having to do any major modifications. also, if i could get a running list of what amps people have already put under their seats it would give me an idea of what i should be in the market for.

You can measure the space easily yourself. Move your seats all the way forward. What you see is what you get. :)

With some modification. I installed a Phoenix Gold XS4600 under the front seat. It measures 14.25"L X 9.25"W X 2.0"H. Had to trim out the plastic floor material and cutoff the rear heater hose.

I like the kiwi. Have you seen one with the black panels? I've only seen it on honda's site. I think that's sweet. I like it with the black panels better than the EX-P. I think the new orange would look better with black panels too. What you could do, when you get youe E, is cut a foam block to fit undr your seat and use that as a guide when you shop for amps. Or when you find an amp you like, cut a foam block the same size and see how that fits. Also search the boards here, some have posted pics of amps they mounted under the front seats. I have an LX sans the overhead compartment. I'm considering putting an amp up there, just to be different.

I like the Kiwi with the black panels, too. I want to see that in person. I have to admit I like the Kiwi a whole lot better up close than I did in pictures. I'd also like to see a two toned Kiwi, with white on the bottom. It would also need a big chrome VW logo on the front, and maybe safari windows, but then I always wanted to own a Microbus but didn't want to have to get out to help push it up a steep grade. :D
I'll measure these areas for you today, X, but gibroni has it exactly right. This is where your salesman earns his money, holding your hand before the sale. I can remember an '89 Accord Coupe I bought. I made so many trips into the dealer just looking for hi-fi options they almost got sick of me. Almost. They still didn't have my money yet so they were very polite. The kicker was when I realized I could build a CD changer into the left rear tire well and access it through a little flap in the side panel. It was totally hidden and yet totally accessible. That took me at least three trips into the dealer to make sure it would fit. The salesman got very quiet as I was pulling off the left rear inside quarter panel on one of their demos to check my options. :-o
At one point, I'm lying in the trunk, looking up at the rear deck of an Accord, imagining speakers in the deck. I still hadn't taken the car for a test drive, picked a color, asked about the gas mileage or done any of the normal car buying things. As I'm staring at the deck, my salesman says, "You DO look at the strangest parts of a car before you buy one."
Take some big pieces of styrofoam into the dealer along with a sharp knife. A serrated knife works the best. Cut out some mock-up amps. Do this in their show room, trying to keep the debris to a minimum, but if they have to get out a vacuum, well, that's why they get paid the big bucks. :) Tell them they can hose out the car to clean up the mess. :-P

X, measuring under the driver's seat in an E, it seems like there is about 8" by 10" by 3" for an amp. That 3" would take you right up to the seat with no ventilation, so you should probably figure less height than that for the amp. The passenger's seat space looks just about the same.

thank you so much, i have decided to just change the speakers first, but i will be installing a small amp which will definately fit those dimensions to power the stock sub. i will eventually put a 4 channel in to power my mids and highs, once the money is right.

N.W.Eowner: do you have any pics of the alterations under the driver seat? that's the most "logical" place to hide the amp for me since i've removed the rear seats for good. tia (thanks in advance)
