Hi all, I thought that some of you might be interested in this grill guard install I did recently on my 06 exp. This is the 3 section one. I know some folks dont care for the 3 part version and have complained about the difficulty they had with installation. I found it pretty straight forward and it was the first time I had ever attempted something like this. One benefit I experienced was because the grill guard came in three sections it made it easier to handle during install and I was able to manage it with very little assistance from my lovely wife. After about 500 miles of driving it remains as sturdy as the first day I installed it and has required no addition tightening. I hope this helps those considering this one. Total install time 1hr 50mins

Looks like the same one I have. is it a Hunter?
Mine is rock solid also.

The brand is Auto Extreme (a.k.a. Hunter) and yes it does have the pre-drilled holes for additional lights.

What does it do? :roll:

Were you able to get the grill guard at a local retailer or did you have to order it online?? I got my money in hand and I am ready to buy!!!

I would highly recommend you go with the Aries Brush Guard. I installed the Hunter/AutoExtreme guard first on my E and I did not like the fit or the quality of the guard. I believe the Aries is a much better product and worth the extra $50.00.

I second the Aries grill guard. Fits like a glove and really easy to put on.

I'm not into cheap products, and I stand behind my reveiw100% (A picture speaks a thousand words). If you want to spend the extra cash, by all means knock yourself out. I appreciate everyones input. Can you elaborate on what you thought was poor in quality for this product? If there really is no quality difference, I also cant see dropping 50 extra on it. I am definately on openminded shopper and want to make the best choice.:)

Rather than going into everything I like about the Aries and dislike about the Hunter. I refer you to my thread back when I went through my ordeal in installing and getting my brushguard to fit my E.

I am still unsure if the guard I got was not made right or what the problem was but I know I like the quality of the Aries better. For lack of a better explanation it just looks like it is manufactured to higher standards than the Hunter guard. I think the Aries is worth every penny of the $50.00 more.

Please don't make me have to say "I told you so" If you choose the Hunter guard over the Aries.

I'll second your opinion of the Hunter. I bought one and had no trouble installng it. I also like how it looks and have received numerous compliments. The Aries is also very nice, so to each his own.

Ok, now after all of your imput and a little research on my part I am ready to make my purchase. Thanks again everyone for your help! Once I get mine all installed I will post some pics. Thanks again!

I would think you can, the only concern would be that you would have holes on either side of your center guard piece. Having exposed open areas can be potential rust spots in the future.

The two headlight guards can be left off. That will leave holes where they attach to the guard, but since it is powder coated it should not be a rust concern.

I would like to see how they look without the sides from the side view. I think from the front it would look good

Where is the best place to get that kind of guard? What kinda price should I be looking at?

One other thing, do you think it would fit over an E with the front bumper trim on? I don't think it sticks out that much further than the regular front bumper but thought I'd ask your opinion about the space in that area.

OK Forget about everything I just talked about because they say the Hunter Guard will not work on an '06.

If I find any center guards for the 06 I'll let you all know.
