Hey guys, I am having an issue with the antenna of my 93 Accord. It is an automatic up/down antenna and it has been making a TON of noise when it goes up and down, I am afraid that I will wake up the neighbors when I leave for work in the morning. I have tried using wd40 and other lubricants and nothing helps.

I was hoping someone could either tell me how to disconnect the power feature so I could just leave it up and not have it go up and down, OR if someone could tell me how to replace the antenna with a rubber stubby antenna.

I know the old Accords are a pretty common car and I am just hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction when it comes to replacing the antenna (even if you have done it on another car, any tips would be really helpful!)

Find the wire that powers the antenna and cut it ?? Not being a smartass I have never had a power antenna, so never thought about it.:|

This is very easy to do......go into the trunk and pull back the left side lining. You may have to pop out a few clips and screws but it doesnt take that long.Once you peel the trunk lining back the antenna plug is right there.

On My car it is the blue wire . If you remove the panel in the trunk There are connectors at the base of the antenna. I just unplugged the Blue one in the up position!

Outpost will know more than I do about your car.

I'd really like to replace the antenna with a pep boys model or something but I just don't know what it entails. Has anyone done this before? I just don't want to get in over my head, I haven't done a lot of work on cars before besides intalling head units and speakers.
