: Tons of Element ads.....Daily News Sports Section
jimtesla 02-15-2006, 08:45 PM Anybody notice the Sports section today......
There were three...One with a Monkey..., a Bear, and an Armadillo...dont know if I spelled that correctly....
Kind of dorky..but they are getting the word out..I also see a couple of commercials now and then.....
They need to stop playing games and really market it....
rhythm_ace 02-15-2006, 08:54 PM If you go to the Honda website for the E, they have that Element island thing.

If it's an ad campaign, it's weird.
CKinSD 02-22-2006, 12:54 PM lol they are advertising in marvel comics as well

Mr Tango has been in CA on business twice in the last 10 days and he brought me the ads. You guys are the only ones seeing these that I know of. Assume CA is the biggest market for the E.
biocube 02-22-2006, 07:13 PM they are running the same set of mulitple ads in the LAtimes too.
plus, there have been a bunch of element-only (not all the honda trucks together) ads on the local TV stations (9&11, iirc)
its a big push.

I saw a couple ads on local TV also. It was embarrassing. I don't know if I stand alone on this one, but that has to be the worst ad campaign idea ever. Maybe there is some missing link I am not aware of that will make them funny or least keep me from cringing every time I see one. Please let me know.
csimpkins 02-23-2006, 10:22 AM IMO, the best ad campaign for the Element would be one featuring personal stories of how real people use it. Help people get past the box and understand the "E thing".
Talking animals aren't the way to do that. heh. Unless they're dogs climbing into the back and exclaiming at the roominess of it all.
tango 02-23-2006, 10:49 AM Not that there aren't some horrid ads out there but in some cases if you aren't the demographic the advertiser is targeting, you won't get or like the ad.
I am not even close to the target demo for most E ads, so I don't always like them either. They are interesting tho and they do break thru ad clutter pretty well - which is a feat in itself.
The Crab TV ad is pretty cute - I DO like that one.
ethos 02-23-2006, 10:53 AM I hope that they don't advertise it at all (although I know that is wishful thinking) the thing I like most about the E is that it is original because not everyone has one. In fact I really like that most people find them ugly.
To helll with popular belief.
I hope honda sells just enough to our specific group/type of people to keep the line in production. I hope that it doesn't become one of those jeep type automobiles that people buy just because it is trendy/cool.
My sister, for exmple, has a jeep wrangler. Has had it for 5yrs (or so) now. The thing has never been off the pavement. I don't care if you're a jeep person or not, there is just something fundamentally wrong with that.
Years ago jeeps were relatively inexpensive becuae they were more utilitarian. Now however they are not only inpractical but really expensive too. Only because jeep knows people will pay for the jeep name...dumb!
Ummm, you guys.... Same ads are at the top of this page. Click on Discover more about the Element. What color is the Oppossum one? Looks white on my screen and it looks good to me.

manticore999 02-23-2006, 08:29 PM Here in the SF Bay area I haven't seen any kind of ads for the Element for I don't know how long
I was beginning to think may Honda was giving up on it!
bush555 03-06-2006, 02:08 AM On La Brea Ave. in Los Angeles. Nothing happening at 1610, alas...
jimtesla 03-06-2006, 08:11 AM Tons of ads this weekend onTV.....all colors of Elements talking to animals....
Maybe they want us to associate the color of the car with the animal....
Do you have a platypus in 4wd?
Or to answer the question on the billboard? Are they on the indangered
species list?
I just think this add campaign is not hitting the mark...
csimpkins 03-06-2006, 09:23 AM Each animal represents a different aspect of the Element. If you follow the ad up top, you can play the game and learn about each one.
The chameleon represents the Element's different color options.
The platypus represents the Element being a unique mixture of many things. He's got the bill of a duck, the tail of a beaver, and the body of an otter. While the Element is part SUV, part van, and part 'surf wagon' (as the ad says).
The bunny's huge feet represent the Element's 4WD traction.
The burro represents the Element's carrying capacity.
The crab represents the Element's playful, beachy nature. (at least I think so, heh)
The opossum? Pfft. Got me. "Opossums don't do anything with urgency."
But anyway, that's the gist of it. Here are some more links about the ad campaign:
