Big windstorm in upstate New York today knocked out power all over, also knocked down some pretty big trees where I work. I park in this lot all the time.

Yeah, but it snapped the tree in half before succumbing to the weight. Maybe they could proceed with an experiment like the BBC did for the Hilux?

The doors on this CR-V are entirely intact! That tree is huge, must have been a mighty wind storm! I saw this scenario happen across the street from me a couple months ago. It was a rented Chrysler Neon though; my sympathy moved on quickly...

I keep telling Jamie that is what is going to happen to her Element. She lives in the country and parks by a tree, She said it is good for the insurance to get her a new car when the Element is crushed ! Jamie wants a New Nisssan Altima..

i heard that someone down in saratoga died when a tree fell on their car. that's just horrible... there were trees down all over the place up here in lake george so i'm sure you got the same stuff that we had. that's just so unusual and seems so pointless that a life was lost because of the wind knocking a tree over. words just can't describe...
Yeah, the weight limit on the Honda roof racks are ridiculous......:)

For the record, this was not the fatal incident that Mtb20x mentioned. There's no indication anyone was in this CR-V.
Sad about the CR-V and the death. We are still having some major high winds here today. Lots of trees down all over the place.

This is a text book example of overloading the roof rack. Plus I don't even see any ties down straps. That tree is going to fly right off when they hit highway speeds.

^ My thought exactly. I guess it was a mistake to go to one of those Cut Down Your Own Christmas Tree farms.
