It hadn't rained in So Cal since X-mas so we decided that this last week end would be a good choice for our first camping gig in 2006 at Cachuma Lake/Santa Barbara. After all the last few week ends had phenominal weather with temps in the 80's and plentiful sunshine. But noooo not this week end. It started raining as soon as we got up there. Our plans were foiled but not our enthusiasum. We'll try it again in two weeks.

Yup, we're such weenies in So. CA. Elsewhere, they may chip through ice to dig in their tent stakes, but we scratch the trip if it's below 60 and damp. :D :D :D I mean, why bother!?! Next week it'll be glorious! You know this little bit of rain will help give us some better desert color in a few weeks, too. Sorry your trip was a wash. Maybe look at it as just more practice at efficient packing of the E?
Cheers,
Tess
Sorry it rained on you :-( That can ruin a trip. Did you at least get any pics to share???
Wierd weather seems the rule. We are like 17" under normal rainfall in Texas, major drought. Thursday we got to 86- a record high. Friday the high was 40. From Friday night until noon Monday we did not top 32. Very little rain, but enough to make it slick and icky.
Good luck with another try in two weeks!

Thank you for your sympathies. Yes indeed. We'll try again in two weeks.
You should of seen the camp menu I had planned out !!!!!!
Just me and hubby (we have no kids) and he was way bummed about it. I feed him like he's the Sultan of Um Pa Pa Mau Mau when we're camping. He just loves it! I do all the outdoor gourmet cooking and he does all the manly camp things.

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours

My son and I seek out the raining weekends to go camping - it's the best time to go - we have the place all to ourself because you folk all clear out.
Can't wait to get my E so that we don't have to worry about the interior. Soon, soon...

Not to worry. You and your son's "best time to go camping" secret is safe here. You'll still have the place all to yourselves.
