When I first start my car the engine noise seems loud. The idle seems to be up as well.

That is typical with Honda's VTEC engines. The car raises the idle to warm itself up quicker, as you drive around, usually 10 -20 min, it will drop back to 750rpm - 850rpm.

I had the same thing in my old VW Passat. The idling will be a tad bit higher when the engine is cold but then as the engine warms, the idling RPMs will go down.
