I know several E owners and am wondering if we could get a local club for E owners in/around Columbus, Ohio.

Anyone interested in helping me spearhead this effort?

Just joined the forum. My g/f is picking up her '06 Kiwi LX 2wd on Friday and we both live in Columbus. Just thought I'd introduce myself. Site appears to have a great amount of useful info.

Thanks. I'll be sure to get lots of pics of it after she takes delivery.

I don't have a Honda, but might as well post a pic of one of my cars. My other is a '94 Camaro drag car project.

Shannon, yeah we both really like it a lot.

Just a suggestion, I'm a moderator on two other sites and what I've done is create a Word Document to where you can make "spotted" cards and use Avery perferated edge business cards and place those on cars around town. PM me if you want a bit more info.

Roush Honda is the best car dealer I've ever dealt with in my 49 years. Get all your service done there and they extend the warranty out to 5 year/100,000 miles. Do your homework on price & make your offer. They are emplyee owned. See Tom Miller, he's great to work with.

I wasn't too impressed with Roush when i was shopping. Honda East was OK. Check for Andy Montel if you go there, he was cool. I bought my E in Newark at John Hinderer. The guy i dealt with is now a sales manager and doesn't do any floot sales, his name Pat Hanna if you want to check them out.

I think the best idea is know what you want and how much you want to pay. Lay it all out and say "take it or leave it." If they want to make a sale then it's yours. Also go over the car with a fine tooth comb, especially if it is used. They'll go over it with you but don't rush it. Make sure everything is how you want it. When i got mine i didn't realize i was missing a small panel inside the right rear door handle. Now i can't prove it wasn't there when i got it. Also i had a screw in the tired so the first night i had my E i got a flat. Still can't prove it was there when i picked it up, which i know it was because it was a panel screw from the wheel well.

Hi fellow Buckeyes!
I am fairly new to EOC and didn't see a place for intros. I have an 05' Ody and a '97 civic. Would like to get a 2007 Element. I don't have a lot of experience with dealers but Roush has seemed really good to me. I would go there again. They have worked with me finding a couple annoying squeeks, gave me a rental for free when they didn't get the E done in time, and tossed in a new serpantine belt under warranty... among other things.
Beautiful here today, no?

The best price I found in town was at Immke Honda on Sawmill. We were $100 over invoice, but got a handfull of accessories at no additional charge (wheel locks, rubber floor mats, splash guards, and back-up sensors). Factor those in and we were actually well under invoice.

Financed at 0.9% for 36 months with zero down.

Immke freaking sucks. My sales guy was great and I got a great price, but the finance guy was a complete dick and couldn't take no for an answer, I ripped him on the survey and then Honda called me and just said sorry. I was like you wasted my time to say you're sorry, go Fcuk yourself! And then the service department is a ripoff too, they want $8 for an oil filter. I was told when I bought it oil changes were $23 and they want almost $40, even Valvoline is cheaper.

Next time I buy it will be with Roush, I should have went with them in the first place but Immke got my color for me. I knwo with Roush you get the 84mo/100mi warranty for free.

JusG19
05-16-2007, 08:55 PM
I agree, immke sucks. If you need parts, order from majestic honda. Search them on yahoo, they are in RI, butthey have low prices and they ship.

Also, I think Roush, though they promote the warranty, you're just going to get ripped by the service department. win some, lose some

I was responding to the question about who has the best price and it sounds like we agree. Since I would pass a half dozen Honda dealerships between the house and Immke, you can bet that tey will see little or no business from me for scheduled maintenance.

I told my salesman that I was not interested in anything other than the car itself, so I spent less than 10 minutes with the finance guy.

Since my wife is an Otterbein alumni, Roush may get some business from me in the future. Unless, of course, they don't want to deal.

Dub/JusG19, you're worrying me. I just picked up my Tango Red 2WD EX yesterday from Immke. I had a great buying experience and I got the price I was looking for. But if the service department is rough, it will ruin the good will they have with me.

Roush, on the other hand, I can't stand. I've been there twice looking for E's. Back in 2004 and just recently with a used one they had. But unforunately, the lowest price of the '06 with 14k miles was $300 less than the new one I bought.

JusG19
06-08-2007, 01:41 PM
Let me correct that a bit. Immke sucks for parts/serivec prices and they can order what you want without screwing up. Roush has better service and semicompetent parts departement. No matter where you go for an E, your going to get raped. Only in certain circumstances will you find a good deal.

The wife has been talking about that joint every since she went that last year for an office outing with Starbucks when she was there visiting. I'm honestly not a big fan, but hell if that's what it takes for you guys to drive over!

Maybe we can repay the visit by coming over and going to that Broad Ripple bar over there.

I'm good on the 10th and 11th, or 24th and 25th of August, and most of the early weekends of September. How about you guys?

it's a bummer that the Buckeyes are not playing the Hoosiers this season. We could do something for that in the future, or if they play Miami again. They should have a special dedication to coach Hoepner like they did at the Northwestern game last year for their former Miami coach that died.

Miami coaches that go to Big Ten teams don't seem to have a long life expectancy lately. (Sorry for the rambling, it's boring at work today)

I've never been to it but the wife has on more than one occasion and I don't know which one she went to. I know she was at the Starbucks Regional office there in Columbus and she checked it out on two different occasions on two different trips. I know I'm spent for the entire month of August and I wouldn't be any good until the second weekend in Sept. You guys plan it and if I can make it I'll be there. Hi Dub, are you the Blue 4WD E parked on OSU campus?

I spend some time on Campus but not that much so probably not me unless there is an EOC sticker on the back and a plate that matches the one in my avatar.

As for the camping suggestion, I figure it would work well even for those of us who have never met. If you don't get along with someone for some reason then you can always spend the weekend enjoying a park by yourself or with your guest. My weekends are pretty tight until January. Getting married in Dec and have premarital counseling several weekends through Dec. Have a work trip that spans one weekend, a camping trip to Mohican another weekend, and a backpacking trip somewhere in Nov. LOL. I'll have to get back to you on a date.

I still want to recruit some more Es to join EOC (seeing so many of them on Campus lately without EOC sticker). Meet you on the forum again soon.

Hi, We (husband and I) just purchased an '04 EX AWD in Nighthawk Black Pearl. We've had it less than a week and already my husband is like "that's an awesome car!" I've been wanting one for a while, and I finally wore him down...

I would love to meet other E owners around here. I had a thought if anyone else has dogs (one of the main reasons we got one), maybe a mini dog play date at a dog park or something? Don't know if that would work with anyone else's schedules, but I try to get ours to the Westerville park on saturdays.

Random fact, I actually work with the son of "BentBox". I know he hasn't posted in a while, but his son told me his dad has an element, so when I saw that, I was rather amused...

I look forward to the opportunity to meet some of you guys (I'd be up for getting some "tagging" cards as well). I would be very interested in a group camp trip too. Thanks!

It sound like it is "out of way" but yesterday on the w 5th there was a couple driving NBP. Is there any chance it was you? We have a dog but he is a kind of an older guy and he never really liked other dogs (he loves human ladies and kids!!!!) so we never take him to a doggy park. Right now our schedule is a bit busy but we cn stay in touch and organize something small soon. Btw, I have been vaiting to get promo cards from T Mac since a couple of weeks. There are so many Es to tag around here!
Just recently I saw a red one parked in the center of Upper Arlington (with a bike inside) and a blue one was following my husband on Sunday morning going south on Route 33. We have the sticker on and I was told the driver did not honk the horn... Oh, these E drivers in Columbus.

T Mac, we need promo cards in Columbus, OH!!!!!!

This morning I saw a Kiwi E at the OSU medical center and later in the afternoon I was circulating for 10-15 around Medical center waiting to pick up my husband, showing off our beautiful ASM with the EOC sticker.

What's that about proteus, proteus9119? (wondering about the name) See you around, hopefully.:)

Mostly i couldn't think of a name to use as a handle in the EOC. So i went with the name i gave to my Integra which i stole from Proteus vulgaris. (I'm a science nerd) Proteus is latin for "first order" (i think)

Anyway it sounds cool and I wasn't very creative the day i created my profile.

Oh, I a kind of hoped it was for the other Proteus (http://camp.rrc-kp.si/praksa/proteus/index_en.htm). Since it's endemic in the region where I come from could have ment we were neighbors. Oh well, we still are neighbors and also my husband and I are scientists.

I got my "tags" from T MAC in the mail yesterday so if you get a business card on your E and you're already a memeber I'm sorry.

Got my tags from TMac on yesterday as well. I've already passed tagged two and handed out one to another owner who lives in my neighborhood. She was excited to know there was a club much like the corvette club. She her son has a SOP or TM and she has an '06 ASM. We'll see if she gets logged on. The other one I tagged was an SOP parked at the Old National Bank on Fall Creek Rd and 79th St. The owner works there and I think is a member of my church. She has a personalized plate that reads "lil HUMM".
The other one I tagged was a '06 NBP parked outside a material industry business in Fortville, IN right off of SR67 east of SR13.

I've been writting on mine, "Given by chozn4service". I should be out of these by mid week and I'll revert back to the ones I printed off of the EOC.

I told him all about the clubs and he was definately interested. He said he was going to turn in his red Ridge in about 12mos and wanted to ge another one but he wanted it painted COLTS BLUE and have it chromed out with a lot of mods. I was impressed with the one he was driving though it had no mods, it was super clean.

I see SOOOO many Elements around Columbus, but it seems like there's only about 7 people on here. I came across someone's in the parking lot at Riverside (I work there) and left a note on his car. I knew he was EOC because I saw his gutter guard.

I need to print out some of the cards so I can tag all of the ones around here. As far as the ziploc bag idea, I have an easier (and cheaper) way to laminate your cards. Packing Tape. you can do a whooooole lot at once. Lay out a piece sticky side up, put down as many cards as you want (with some space in between), Lay down the other piece on top, trim. Done.

I agree that there needs to be a way to alert other people while driving. Perhaps a way to put it on the front of the car? a sign to hold up as I go driving past? I need to get an EOC license plate frame, I'm not too big on stickers on my car. Hmm, perhaps figure out how to put the logo on my windshield shade? I also have yet to have another Element driver even make eye contact with me, let alone wave or anything. bah...oh well.

Is there a place to suggest things for the forum? I am thinking a "search members by location" might be helpful.

If anyone sees a Black (NBP) driven by a Female with shoulder length dark hair wearing (usually) a stupid blue OhioHealth shirt and khakis, that's me. :D

Yesterday we were three elements in an intersection very close to proteus home. A blue one just drove through and did not see the other 2 (we were on opposite sides of the street waiting on red ligt). When I met the other one, the guy inside did not look at all interested in my E. I got all mad and my husband (who was sitting next to me) said:" Probably other people just use it for transportation" (meaning to say, as all the other normal people:D ).

We will need to have a small meet soon.

Sorry i missed the meeting there at the intersection.

I'm up for a meeting sometime. Maybe at a bar to watch a Buckeye game??

Have you tagged any more E's? I've gotten pretty distracted lately and haven't done any tagging, we're moving to a new apartment and it keeps me pretty busy.

_jea_
10-03-2007, 12:20 PM
Yes, at the intersection I missed a green one and an orange or red one and at that point we would be all set.

Meeting at a Bar would be OK with us, but we are not Buckeye fans, sorry. Not following much of the football at all. Just a meet would be fine, but anyway not before somewhere after the mid of November.

I did not tag any more Es but I am planning on tagging them this weekend (starting with a couple of my neighbors)

Incase any one hadn't seen it yet the '08 EOC meet is going to be in Columbus/ Marysville this year. (i wonder is East Liberty feels snubbed)

I really want to get the local enthsiasm and activity level up. I'm going to lay some plans for a local meet this spring. Nothing too extravagant, but a good reason for people to get together.

I'll start a thread when i have a better idea of things, but i am thinking of somewhere around April-ish. My thought is to have it at a time that isn't too close to the June meet but also when the weather is much less like crap.

Glad to see people are interested in getting together.

I'm pretty excited about the Big meet in June.

If anyone feels like getting together to help plan some stuff for the mid Ohio meet drop me a line. I've been trying to throw some ideas together and i think later this week I am going to start the thread to gather ideas and get things planned.

DH and I are proud new owners of an E. I was excited to see the big E gathering in Mville since it's right next door but I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it. That's the weekend I was supposed to go to Iowa. Not to mention it's my DH's busiest season and he'll need the E often for toating drum gear. So this mini meet might be an option. I'll stay tuned in for more details.

Don't want to go stepping on toes and splitting allegiances.

I'll take time to brainstorm this week and by Friday i will start the thread.

Yea Proteus, keep up posted on what your plans will be. I know in May we have a little informal gathering with Dom.Five, Dance and myself during the Indy500 weekend. Not really a meet but more of a lets get together and share a meal and a brew or two, or three. Anyway, we do this in May so like Dance said, April would be perfect. The weather would have broken for the better for everyone and I could see us getting together as a tuner to the BIG EVENT in June. Speaking of which, I hope you Buckeye's make it the International EVENT this June in Columbus/Marysville. This will be one thing that none of you will want to miss, ever in your lives and to have it right in your back yard too. Hey, all of you guys should have already signed up and made reservations. I think the last count there are 60 people coming and I'm assuming those are 60 Elements as well. Hope you peeps get on board and make a commitment to be there.

I'll probably hit the car wash down on King Wednesday night if you're passing by honk hello.

Are there a lot of E's in Columbus? There aren't many over this way in Brookville, Ohio (of course it's so small it's not even a city, I don't think )

Maybe sometime if you get a meet together, I'll make the drive your way. It's about an hour and a half, maybe a little more for me, but not a bad drive.

I work on the 7th floor of Lincoln, at least until our office moves to another building in a few weeks. If I wave out my office window, do you think you can see me? :) Did you tag any of the other E's in the parking lot? There's usually one or two others there. In fact there's one parked next to mine right now. No idea who's it is, though.

I tagged the other gray one with roof rack on the same day and I did not have another EOC card with me to tag the orange one (tangerine). I am in BRT on the 8th floor, before I was in Riffe on the 9th floor.

I know there must be another orange parked in the small lot between the towers, at least it was some time ago. Is it still parking there?

On the same day when I tagged you I tagged also another E with the bike racks on top and I even found out who it belongs to. Some time ago a person that works on my floor told me her husband has an E, so I gave her my tag and then even sent him an e-mail giving him the link to the EOC. He did not join! I know they usually park in the Neil parking garage, but that day he came early and parked in the lot... and here you go, I left him another card. So 2 days after his wife tells me that he found the card and he called me a stalker... Who knows why:confused::D

p.s. we did it to be spontaneous (after 6.5 years of dating), not because we're expecting. :D

cory1000: Keep looking at this Midwest section for a meet in the Cleveland area possibly late January or sometime in February. We haven't had much detailed discussion other than we plan to meet up again soon.

Columbus group: My wife and I might be visiting some friends in Chillicothe this month. I'll keep watching this thread and if it happens your meet is on the same day we'll stop by.

Bob, as you can read, our meet might be very huge (proteus, his wife and I) :D Why don't you just say when you are planning on comeing around and we might arrange in the way we can have a bit bigger meet?

Proteus: Tomorrow is Saturday. I have no idea where I put your phone number (is not in my phone), so it looks like we won't meet tomorrow, if you don't set up the place.

Hey welcome!!

small world, but my wife is from New Concord- John Glenn class of '98.

We really haven't gotten a central ohio meet to work for more than two people at one time- we wasehd out E's just before the internaitonal meet.

But i'd be up for just grabbing some food, hanging out talking car stuff, doing a mod on someone's E or just shooting the breeze.

Also if you'd like we can work on a East/ Central ohio meet together in New Concord, Cambridge, Newark, or Z-ville too.

I'm living in Fairborn for the time being while I'm at Wright State.

Really? My parents, and a few other relatives graduated from Muskingum College there. I went there in 1984 & fall of '85, but it wasn't my cup of tea. Ended up graduating from Bowling Green in '90.

SE Ohio has some real pretty countryside.
