Just traded my Subaru Baja in on a 2006 Element. Wanted something easy to enter and exit and to drive -- and dog-proof. The Sube was nice but shifted poorly and was a literal pain to enter/exit. Also, one of my mutts jumped outta the cut-down truck bed which scared me more than her. The club's info was invaluable, really appreciated that. Paid within a few hundred of what I thought I should have and for once got the exact color (black), model (LX) and options (AT) I wanted, no more, no less, from Hagerstown Honda. Only had it a few hours so far and the E is what you guys said (and what I thought) it would be. It's fun and easy to drive and has enough pep even with the AT (if I want to go fast, I'll jump on my motorcycle) to keep up with nutty WV drivers. Thanks gang.

Welcome to the club! If you see my Kiwi on 81, wave! If I don't wave back it's because I don't seem to be able to see the black E's as well, but I'll be looking for you!

Welcome, Pete!

I just now finished replying to another board member's PM about dogs and their reaction to the E; both of our dogs weren't all that impressed, lol. The big problem seems to be the floor, as they seem to slide around a lot. I haven't come up with a solution yet, and I expect I'll probably end up trying several options before I find something that works for her.

EDIT: Woohoo! Another cheap S.O.B. in an LX! I was starting to get lonely!

Turns out, the dogs and wife DO love it. Took all three out for an introductory spin today doing routine chores but taking scenic W. Va. back roads. Folded the back seats up against walls (now isn't THAT cool?) and put down blankie for the mutts. First half tank of gas has taken me about 180 miles, that sounds about right for a new engine. Cruises nicely at 80, very smooth motor and not enough wind noise to gripe about. Nice sound system. Handles fine on back roads, not as well as the Sube but I love not having to shift or worrying about the dogs jumping out of the Baja's bed. Love the panoramic view forward and am getting used to the blind spots at the windshield and door pillars. Feels a little like my old '74 Econoline but much more refined. I look forward to a vacation in it. I feel priviliged that Click and Clack recognized the E and my former ride, the Baja, as among the ugliest cars made.

Hey there, Glade,
There have been a number of threads on solutions for this, OEM, EOC sponsor vendor, and Target/Walmart/Home Depot genre. Search on "floor", "carpet", "mat", and/or "pad".

Hi, Pete,
Welcome aboard.
