: What's hanging from your....
StLouisPenguin 05-31-2003, 08:19 PM Rearview Mirror?????
I was sitting at a light tonight and was deeply gazing at all the stuff hanging from my rearview mirror, and began to wonder....am I the only one???
Right now I have a blue lei, Yankee Candle Car Jar Coconut Bay, a beaded necklace that a deceased friend made for me (kinda like my gaurdian angel co-piolit), and of course a small Penguin.
So I am I just out of control? Or do others have many items dangling in front of their eyes?
Thought this would be a fun question!
isketerol 05-31-2003, 10:33 PM Sorry no danglies from the rearview mirror. I like the view unobstructed. I have the stuffed ape toy one of my ex-bfs gave me after seeing "Planet of the Apes" hanging from one of the hooks in the rear, tho.
The only thing that I really oppose hanging from the rear is cds. It's very frustrating having the shiny surface from them hanging in other people's cars distracting me when I drive.
StLouisPenguin 06-01-2003, 07:13 AM Iskie-
I am in full agreement about the CDs.....totally annoying!
zozohead 06-01-2003, 09:27 AM No danglies, but my brother sent me a dancing hula girl like the one in the E brochure. I'm torn as to wehther or not to use it, only because of the 2 sided tape it uses to stick on. I hate the thought of leaving an everlasting mark on my dash. If anyone knows whether or not it'll leave a permanent mark, please let me know. I think it's cool looking in the same way pink flamingos look cool in a garden, but not so cool as to ruin my dash.
Aykew 06-01-2003, 09:31 AM Just a parking pass for the company parking lot! (It's mad stylin', though... it's a nice little beach scene complete with seagulls, a sunset, and palm trees, all in orange and brown. Looks like it jumped right off a 1980s dixie cup!)
isketerol 06-01-2003, 09:51 AM The hula girl is made by Bell - available at Canadian Tire. It has me considering it as an e-ccessory. Just a fun thing for a fun vehicle.

billybud 06-01-2003, 03:55 PM I gotta feeling that dangles are gender influenced....men will dangle stuff...but in my estimation at much less of a frequency and density than women.

StLouisPenguin 06-02-2003, 10:54 AM Sheniferous-
Just say what my friend says about her Christmas lights that are still up....
"They are only Christmas lights around Christmas time.....the rest of the time they are PARTY lights!"
Gotta love that answer!
P3,FOYFN 06-02-2003, 03:03 PM ya, but then you need to have a party and use them just to prove it. But that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
AndyT 06-02-2003, 07:34 PM Mardi Gras Beads and panties, Is there anything else?
TheLusciousHellcat 06-02-2003, 07:53 PM I have found anything that's too big or rattly to be a distraction when I drive, thus no more rosaries, African fertility charms, or Tibetan prayer flags. (I'm nothing if not ecumenical.)
But, I do very much want a 'blessing' token in my E.
I think I'll get a silk cord and hang a little piece of jewelry, probably one of my goddess pendants. No rattle, and not so big as to be distracting.
lon777 06-02-2003, 08:11 PM I got a pin that that is a crescent moon with a star on on it. My wife gave it to me saying that she would give me the moon and the stars if she could.

It sounds like she gave you something much much more valuable. :D
lon777 06-02-2003, 08:54 PM That she did! :D

If you're truly a goddess then you'll be wanting one of these for the hood of your E...

All it needs is a few railings and Leonardo DiCaprio behind her to make it complete.
And at 90 bucks it's a steal for any goddess wishing to make a statement!

No such thing as a Hawaiian Headhunter...its probably a copy from the south pacific (like Papua New Guinea or Fiji), or maybe even Africa...If you wat to know more about Hawaii and the pacific, let me know.
As for the hula doll, all you gotta do is put velcro on the bottom of it and on your dash. The velcro will come off easier then the adhesive on the doll. The only problem that might come about is that you'll have a discolored circle on your dash if you ever take it off. With velcro, you can always remove it when you want, or put something else in its place every other day...
As for me, I have a cowry shell lei from Tahiti on my mirror, with a hand-carved black-lipped pearl oyster attached to the end. I used to have a metal surfer necklace, but the sharp ends weren't too great to have swinging in my face.
Element 06-06-2003, 03:04 PM My wife gave me a purple beaded cross to hang on the mirror. I just have to get my priest to bless it :D
GYPSYTDA 06-07-2003, 08:37 PM My hubbie hates the hangie stuff, :? (he would always remove it, drove me nuts!) and I have always had stuff hanging off my rear view in my prelude then my integra..
well i had a cool flying pig that i got for my E but he thought it might break off and become a real flying pig.. (but at least he was not being so against my hangie stuff, grin) so I had to go lighter. and i could not pop my former stuff up this was my E it was not the Prelude it was not the Integra..
soo alas, since i sell tupperware so what the heck, i popped some tupperware keyrings with some cool other key ring charms hanging from a bangel keyring.. really neat, has murano glass, locket, and some silver pups etc.. very cute.. also a cool compass too (so you always know the direction you are heading.. kinda a positive thought thing, nice and sweet) just a collection of things i love that make me smile. the photo is below.
i also have a scooby bobble head that will adore my E  but i have not put him up yet.. no i did not get the hula scooby, it was tempting, but he did not look good enough!

Now take me up north east, ahh nice.. Dunno about the west coast.. so i hope that is a better aroma!
StLouisPenguin 06-07-2003, 08:48 PM GYPSY.....on the central east coast you have to remember that it is not the beach it is the "shore".....former Philly girl here...."Hey everybody, lets go to the joisy shore this weekend"

Okay this club is so great for so many reasons....but the best reason is that I get to talk to people from back home!!!
I grew up on a farm outside of Gettysburg.....used to go to Hanover and York all the time for shows (horse).....then I moved to the Philadelphia Area for a bit, but then moved back to Westminster, MD to be a day student at Oldfields School (Glencoe,MD).....ended up becoming a boarder....when my family moved back to Philly, but my roomie at school was from Hanover....and the wierd thing was that she was as big into horses as my family had been and our parents new all the same people just didn't know each other!
After boarding school I went to western PA to go to college....then I ended up moving to Seattle Tacoma for a brief stint....and then I figured what the hect and moved to Alaska for 3 1/2 years....then back to Philly to complete some of my education....and then go bored so off to Chicago, and that brings me to St.Louis! But the east coast still is held very near and dear to my heart...I love it and it I could I would move back tomorrow....or at least do a two week road trip to go to all my favorite places....it is still early enough in the summer to enjoy the beautiful town of Stone Harbor, NJ before it gets inadated with teenagers and college students!
*sigh*

Since the weather back here in NJ has been so lousy and the hard winter we had is keeping the teenagers in school later than normal - the beaches aren't too crowded. I made a trip to Springer's Ice Cream in Stone Harbor the other day. Heaven. It had been about 35 years since I had their ice cream and it is still the best.

Speaking of "Hon". There's a guy in the Baltimore area that keeps adding a piece of paper with the word "H0N" (yes with a zero instead of an "O") to bottom of the "Welcome to Baltimore" sign. Ends up saying, "Welcome to Baltimore, H0n". Makes my day every time I see it.
Have you ever heard the phrase "go downy Oshun"?
(For non-Balimoreans "Down to the Ocean" meaning a trip to Ocean City, Maryland.)
Island Girl 07-05-2003, 09:12 PM I have a hula girl air freshener hanging from my mirror. You have to do something to personalize it!
cratE 07-05-2003, 09:57 PM I don't have anything hanging from the mirror, but I have a constant companion/mascot in the all of my vehicles called "Sock Dog". Whenever I change cars he transfers to the new one. It is made of the same brown "sock" material that composes Sock Monkeys. He usually rides on the dash but in the "E" he slides all over the place and often winds up in my lap (or worse). Right now he is in the bin next to the MP3 port/DC outlet. I need to find a way to leash that pup. Then I can decide if he will drive down the street butt first or face first.
P.S. I was driving down the road once and someone in the another car motioned for me to roll down my window. After doing so he offered to buy my "Sock Dog". I politely told him, "No sale Sock Dog rides with me!"
I haven't gotten my Element yet (in a few weeks hopefully), but I'll be hanging my Graduation Tassle from the mirror. '03 :D
wr70beh 07-07-2003, 03:35 PM Work parking permit. I can't see it when I'm driving but you can see it from the outside looking in. Right above that on the windshield is my Smart Tag toll collection transponder. That's about all of the "hanging" stuff I have. No stickers, no license plate frames.
LaJollaElement 07-11-2003, 03:43 AM when I sold my Civic. Will get new one soon. Right now, nothing, just my disabled parking placard (waiting for new plates) and a glass bead dragonfly on the dash (attached with a suction cup thing).
cjans7784 07-11-2003, 10:23 PM Just bought a dream catcher and hung that up. Looks so cool, I am leaving it there :) It is green leather and some of the feather is a light gray matching the interior of my SLM. One of the 1st things in there to personalize it (Other than the odds & ends of stuff I throw on the floor since there is no trash bin to put that stuff in... I gotta find me one of those too. Any suggestions??
LaJollaElement 07-11-2003, 11:48 PM i got one of those litter bags, avail at auto section at target or walmart for about 6 bucks. I attached it with the strap thru the bungee loops behind the driver seat. It's a bit of a stretch to reach back there, but i find it works better than hanging it from the shifter, less distracting.
i tried a cup in the third cup holder slot that someone on another thread recommended, but i found that i found the rectangular compartment less useful.
