Anyone interested in an Indy meet? I was thinking of trying to do something on a grand scale for next year during the month of May to coincide with the activities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I was thinking the first weekend in May when the track opens for the 500 Mile Race, which would allow for a lap around the track on their Community Day. I was thinking of maybe starting out on the northside of Indy at the Woodland Bowl which across from Penske Honda, then procede to the downtown area, then to the track. The next day meet at at a local Starbucks for coffee and then procede to Eagle Creek Park or back to the Motor Speedway. It's either a Indy 500 meet or a Brickyard 400 meet in August. I'm interested in what people would prefer. This is a tenative agenda and obvious I'll make changes, plus or minus but I wanted to see if there's even an interest. Also if anyone in the Indy area is wanting to get together for a casual Indy meet, just to have a grip and grin, coffee at a location and maybe kick the idea around for next year, I'm interested in that too. Maybe sometime in either late April or later August. Let's put it out there and see what's what?

Holla!

I lived in Indy for a handful of years, and would be very interested in doing that. Keep me posted. I think Turkey Run State Park would be a great place for a meet if people enjoying hiking.

I would be in Indy in May. So put me down for that.

Is the Woodland Bowl On 92ED street near Keystone? Or am I lost! I usually stay at the hotel on Allisonville at 82ed street. I like that area, fast to every/any place I want to go. Another place to meet that works out well is the Velodrome. We use that as the staging area for the Sheriff's escort into the race on race day. I have an "In" at the track, so we get A season pit pass every year. Usually 4 or 5 of them. So if you need to use one let me know.

My wife's sister lives on Barwil drive just off 79th street. We stay there at times when the hotel is full.

I'm getting hyped, just talking about it. Wish It was next week!

My wife is a white Castles nut. They don't have those out in this area. No one will buy a steamed Burger, that's less than 1/8 inch thick with 5 count em 5 holes punched in it!!!!!! Never could see the wanting one of those SLIDERS ! Must be an INDY thing !

OK I'll sit back now and wait for the Flames !!! :)

PS: My first stop EVERY year is the Broad ripple Brew Pub. Can you say Scotch Eggs ! Or Redbird ail?

I've been to the Speedway a few times on bump day weekends before the actual Indy 500 race and enjoyed those road trips from Chicago. I haven't been for a couple of years though. The last time I ventured into Indiana was to South Bend to pick up a set of tires at the Tire Rack. I might be interested in that lap around the track though. How fast are you allowed to go on the track anyways and does that only happen on the first weekend in May? I would like to see some champ cars flying out there also if I'm going to make the trip over there. Hmm, I'll check w/ my friends and see if they're up for a little road trip again. Hey Chozn, maybe you can hook me up with one of them "free get out of jail" cards from you so it will make my commute from Chicago to Indy a little shorter if you know what I mean, ha ha.

Yea, Woodland Bowl is on 96th street, east of Keystone Av. and you can get anywhere and everywhere from the point. You can jump right on I-465 East or West or shoot south on Keystone to I-70. The Velodrome would be an ideal meet location! Right off of I-65 and close to downtown. I've never been to Turkey Run State Park but I've had some chicks who wanted to get me there when I was single.
White Castle? It's what you crave! They're ok but I'm not a big fan of them. They give a person serious gas, enough to run a Element on and boost the MPG up to hybrid levels. My wife will eat them once a week but me, every once in a blue moon. I prefer their cokes and fries with seasoning salt.
They have a place down south in GA called Crystals which is similar but everyone says they don't come close to the WC Lounge. Hell WC even does a Valentines Day thing where they put table cloths on the tables and dress the place up with a Valentine motif and have waiters and waitresses serve you. They've been doing it for about two or three years now. Dom.FIve, I'm familiar with all the places you've named. I grew up here and have covered every area and inch as a kid or a cop.
As far as the track goes, they only let you get up to about 20MPH. They have the Yellow Shirts all around the track watching you. I've seen a few people let enough space get in between them and the car ahead to punch it but that's about it. I've made it around the joint in my state police camero some years ago for training purposes and it was sweet!

Anyway, maybe we can do an impromptu meeting this year and plan for the big event next year. There are a lot of places here and things to do where it could be the event of the year. I would like to have some manufacturer participation with accessories and the like and maybe I can come up with a shirt design to commemorate the affair. Maybe the downtown skyline with the shadow of an Element in the background of it with "Indianapolis 2007 Honda Element Meet"
