I had a pretty busy day on friday, I just installed my side steps and rear wind deflector now I have a question. Honda recomends putting touch up paint around the exposed surface after drilling the holes for the spoiler. I was told that because the threads from the bolts may rub and cause exposure of metal again and cause rusting and to use silicone or this stuff called Dum-Dum which dries to form a rubber seal, by a friend I was told this. I did nothing other than using the touch up paint. Has anyone gone further than Hondas reccomendation on this?
Thanks
Shane

No, I did the same as you Saturday. Did you notice the "Loctite" on the threads of the bolts? I even added a little to the deflector's threads. Even if it comes back that we should do more than just the touch up paint, it may be a major chore getting the thing apart. Then, if we are able to take apart, we need to remember to reapply the "Loctite."
That tip about the tape on the drill bit so you know when to stop drilling was not quite enough for me. After my the drill bit from the pilot hole hit the E, I quickly through some protection on (ie taped on a plastic shield to the E where the drill tip would hit) to prevent any "accidents" from happening.
Also, I found it helpful to "unbutton" one end of the rubber thing in the corners to make more room. To get it rebuttoned was a little challanging, and luckily I didn't break the button.
I'm happy with the look of ours on our GG, are you satisfied with yours?

I love the look of the spoiler as well, do you have side steps on your GG "E", it's funny, My next door neighbor just bought a SOP "E " on sat. And for some reason I saw quite a few this past week. I had mine since May 10'th and I think the "remarks" have very much dimished since them which means that mine is not the first one they see any more.
Good luck with your E

Our E arrived at the dealer and was available on the 24th. I added splash guards and cargo cover the 25th, carpeted floor mats the 26th, side steps the 29th, and the rear deflector the 31st. My keyless entry and cross bars for the roof are back ordered, so I have those still to install with a security system that is waiting here for the keyless entry. I also have a rear bumper guard waiting for me to put on, but with the rear spoiler, I'm not sure if I want to diminish the amount of silver on the bumper that may be balancing out the silver rear deflector. Maybe I should post a photo with and a photo without and let the forum help me decide.
We had been waiting for a GG 4WD EX since March, and during the wait a semi-neighbor (around the corner) of mine bought a Shoreline Mist, someone else in town has a SOP, and yet another has a Nighthawk Black. Even with that many in my town of 20,000, people are still looking at our E like its the first time ever seeing one. Today our babysitter said, "that's the coolest car I've ever seen." Also, I think availabilty is at it greatest. My dealer had 20+ available the day I was there. For the month of May, he was even selling them $100 over invoice (not a typo) if they were on his lot (I haven't asked what the June prices are). With all the outstanding reviews, I guess we shouldn't be suprised that they are becoming more visible, I selfishly wish they weren't. I hope Honda sticks to its limited production of E's.
