: Nokain Tire Grind

I have not been able to find anyhting on the forum regarding this.

I have a 2004 Element 4WD Manual...I bought replacement tires a few months back...Nokian WR...a full set of four, stock size.

My wife drives it more often that I.

I noticed a few weeks back then when making a 3/4 to full tight turn, in a parking lot for instance, that the tires seem to grind in the turn. This happens turning either left or right.

I took it to the Nokian dealer and he does not feel it is the tires, although he does acknowledge the grinding noise...how can he miss it...it is fairly loud!

I too it to another Nokian dealer for a second opinion...he also does NOT think it is the tires.

I have is scheduled to go into Honda for 56km inspection...I have asked them to inspect and see if they can find anything wrong with the steering.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas solutions

PS Yes tire PSI is even all round at 32psi

Cheers,
Jeff

Go read this thread (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21912)and it should be the solution to your issue. If that doesn't fix it then the dealer should be able to find the solution, but mention this.

hah, yup, another read differential fluid needing changing, not the tires, i bet.

fwiw, i have 75k km on my 2004awd, and also put on the nokian WR three months ago, but no noises (though i'm about due for changing the fluid myself...)

If the tires are the source of the noise, then playing with the tire pressures may make a difference. I noticed when I switch to my Cooper ATRs some noise/roughness when I made low speed turns. I attributed this to the knobby shoulder tread being dragged across the pavement as I turned the wheel. Adding a few psi lifted the shoulders a bit and removed this roughness.
