HA HA HA! so you wanna change the time, eh? that's really funny! :D

when you post your own activity you can choose the time you prefer, but if you wanna attend mine, you come at the appointed time!

no, seriously, by april the temps here are beginning to climb and i don't do well in the heat. as the time gets closer to the event and i see what the weather is going to be like, i might adjust the meeting time to 7:30am. this ride will last a couple of hours, so we have to start accordingly to beat the heat!

btw, when the summer is in full swing, we usually hit the trail by 5:45am! so be thankful it's still "cool" out.

come on folks - get out of bed and join the fun!!!

how'd this work out?? How 'bout a ride from dreamy draw parking lot off SR51? I'll probably ride this Sun (5/7/06) and 7 or 7:30 sounds fine since it's getting warmer.

since the weather is definitely getting hot (expected to reach 110-111 next saturday), gotta start by 5:30am - insane, i know.

I could be avail on the 3rd but, I'm not really interested in driving 45 mins each way only to ride an hour or so. Can we keep it in town? (phx)

darn, i missed you again! i'm so sorry!!!

today we rode desert classic. i tried to send you a pm but none was available and your email is denied. pm me and we can trade eddresses. i'll try to logon during the week.

heads up: next saturday the 10th there will be a ride on t-100 starting from 40th street (south of shea). meeting time 5:30 to 5:45 to start asap. no, we don't just ride for an hour. we usually ride at least 2 1/2 and in the winter months, longer. this morning we started at 6 sharp and got back to the ramadas at 9:15. it was HOT.

we will connect!

Oh, I wasn't saying the rides have to be "epic-long". I was just saying that the distance/time driven should be directly related to the length of the ride :) I sometimes only put in an hour at Dreamy Draw but its only 15 minutes from the house. I'm actually surprised you can get a 2 1/2 hour ride out of the T-100 area. It seems that I can't get much more than an hour out of it if I don't want to travel the same trails twice. By the way, I mapped that entire area from Shea to Lincoln and 51 to Tatum for my Master's project last summer. There are 78 miles of trail in there, it's just a matter of how to link them together.
I live just south of Deer Valley airport. South of Loop 101 off 7th St.

well, i like to park at tatum and start by climbing that horrid hill (it makes a nice cool down back to the car at the end). this adds a couple more miles.

since i'm not a fast rider and when riding with others we like to stop once in a while to catch our breath, look at a view, eat or plain chat a few minutes - an hour and a half ride can take longer;-)

if you're a fast rider into technical trails and don't like to stop...well, next saturday's ride is not for you!:D :D we're a casual, social group.

do you belong to mtbr?

but I'm glad you guys are having fun. I'm not a member of mtbr. The only person I usually ride with is my dad and he's 56 and can still kick my butt. I try to avoid stopping at all cost and dream about technical single track. The more tech usually the better and if I can clean it without putting a foot down then its a bonus.

If if were to consider either end of Trail 100 "horrid" it'd be the one out of Dreamy Draw park not Tatum. That's my easy coast back home.

I rode 11.5 miles yesterday morning in 2 hours with a slow leak on the front that I had to pump every 15 minutes and then finally change when I broke the valve stem at Tatum and Tr100. I found a cholla needle as the culprit before I re-tubed That must have added at least a half hour. I didn't get back to the car 'til 9:15 and it was blistering hot already.

Oh but since this is an ELEMENT discussion, so I flipped down the tailgate and took shade under the hatchback while I removed my shoes. Then tossed my bike inside utilizing the split back seat, jumped inside and fired it up. The A/C was blowing cold in seconds and the factory subwoofer was giving some low-end to my tunes.

really though, I'm not bagging on the way you guys ride. Different strokes for different folks, right?

joining mtbr is free. there are a lot of people there who are into the real technical stuff. you'll be able to hook up with them - if you want company and explore other trails. the rave lately is sunrise by shea and 128th street.

hey, tell your dad about our ride this saturday morning - we are an "older" group. tell him to be at the 40th street (south of shea) parking lot in time to get rolling at 5:45am. of course, you're welcome to come as well...

Thanks for the info about MTBR. My dad lives in Flagstaff and enjoys 2-3 hour grueling rides by himself no stopping. He won't tolerate riding with anyone but me because he hates the BS of stopping, talking, saying we'll meet at 5:45 and not actually riding until 6:30. Like I said previously, he kicks my butt when we ride. His heart rate is that of a 43 year old. Coincidently he also owns a Honda Element but most of the time he rides from his house. Anti-social would describe him best.

It turns out I'll probably be in Flag this Sat anyway. Have fun.
