: Had to add some color

Well I guess it's no big deal but I wanted to bring some color to my Element. With it being Tango Red, I wanted some of that color under the hood and inside the car. Well, mission accomplished under the hood. I got some of the Fusion paint that requires no sanding or priming and I hit the valve covers. IMO, they look pretty tight! It was an easy job to do and only took a few minutes to do. I shot them with two coats and put them back on. They should be chip resistant in 7 day's according to the can. I did go over them with some paint thinner to clean them before the spraying and of course painters tape on the plaque. Now, I want to do the same inside the car, just to add a splash of color. If I can remove the gage cluster and the air vents along with the radio dash trim, I may shoot those nest. I'm not sure how to remove those pieces and if anyone has any info I'd appreciate the knowledge or a link. Anyway, Just wanted to post some pics and let anyone know, that if this is a project they plan, it's a good one. 10mm socket on the hex nuts and there are only 6 to deal with and you're in like Flynn. I know this has been done by others so it's nothing new but for me, with two right hands, it was a big deal. Let me know what cha think. Peace and blessings!

looks vaguely familiar ;-)

I also painted the fuse box cover as well in addition to the same parts as you did. I know Empire painted his sway bar as well.

You are right the Fusion is really nice. Although I did sand my parts slightly just incase.

The radio bezel is just a tug and pull as far as I know and remember. There should only be a handful of screws to get the gauge cluster off. Spdrc5/Larry has some rather recent threads on this I believe in the Electronics forum.

Wow, nice! Be carfeul though, before you know it, you'll have a show car on your hands that only gets driven from the travel trailer to the car show floor ;)

Thanks for the accolades! For the time being, I'm just trying to get it the way that I want it before I really start driving it. So far I got 340 miles on it since bringing it home on January 7th. I love the car and just want to do some things to this one that I didn't get to do on my previous one. Like I said, I just want to add some splash to it. Now, if I can do the same for my interior, here and there, I'll be set and satisfied, for the time being.

I want to do the same exact things...paint the engine and dash trim the same as the body color. Cheap & easy mods are the best kind. :D

I just did the same thing to my E. Same color and everything. Now I want to get a billet oil cap to go with it. :D Looks good man, cant wait to see your dash pics..

I think i'm going to have to see if they make a blue thats close to my E.

Again, thanks! I did see a blue, the red that I have and a green on the shelf but I wasn't really L@@King at all the colors since I was like a tiger looking for that one antelope in the heard. Didn't matter how close I would have been to anything else, that red can was all I saw. The blue and green just happened to be on either side of what I wanted. Speaking of antelope. Go to google and put in "The blonde antelope" in the search engine and watch the video. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I digress!

Yea, I want to do the dash pieces next. Once I have the nerve to pull them off, if I can, I'll shoot them too. I want some color inside. If I could paint in place I would but I don't want to mess nothing up.

I'll see if I can PM him and see what he had to do to do it. Again, I tried a tug under the rim by the airflow contril and it's tight, super tight. I don't want to break anything. As a kid I would take something that was perfect and take it apart and have nothing in the end. Thanks again!

Oh I'm sure you can. It's just a matter of doing and my motto is: Ain't nothing to but to do it. Like I've stated before, I want to possible get the items off and shoot them with that Krylon fusion paint. I really don't want to tape it off and spray inside the car if I can help it. On the same token I don't want to take my dash all apart and start having dash rattles either.

The bezel around the radio is a pull/tug job.

The dash over the passanger side is easy to take off too...dont that alot myself. A couple of threads on that.

But you might want to check some threads in here...I am not 100% the fusion will work as well inside as out.

Thanks again and I PM'd Ranger to get his take on it as well. The fusion does express that it's good for inside and out. I was sold on it that it dries in 15 minutes, touchable in an hour and chip resistant after seven days and that's with the second application after an hour or before seven days. I shot my motor parts on Monday and the cars been sitting every since, since I don't drive it. I've gone out to admire my work and I've tapped on it and it's a hard finish. I think it's going to be OK even with the heat that may be generated under the hood. Surely there's Enuff air flowing through to keep it pushing out of the area.
